The Opportunity

We’re looking for a qualified and adaptable Floating Lead / ECE Teacher to join our team at St. Andrew’s ECE Center. In this role, you’ll step into lead teacher positions across classrooms as needed, bringing consistency, warmth, and high-quality teaching to every group you work with.

This is a full-time position with a set Monday–Friday schedule. Candidates must meet Oregon ELD Lead Teacher qualifications for ECE.

What You’ll Do

• Step into lead teaching roles across classrooms, providing seamless coverage and continuity for children and families

• Plan and implement play-based, developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with Oregon’s Early Learning standards and VHFLC’s philosophy

• Supervise and engage preschool-aged children in activities that promote exploration, discovery, creativity, and problem-solving

• Establish and maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming classroom environment that supports children’s autonomy and cooperation

• Foster positive relationships with children and families, greeting each child and caregiver warmly and professionally each day

• Use positive guidance techniques consistent with VHFLC’s policies to promote self-regulation and conflict resolution

• Follow health and safety practices, including meal/snack routines, toileting support, and maintaining a clean classroom

• Complete required documentation, including incident reports, medication logs, and developmental observations

• Participate in family conferences and ongoing communication with parents to support each child’s growth and family goals

• Collaborate with the ECE Site Director and teaching team to reflect on practices and adapt the learning environment to meet children’s needs

Compensation

$22.00 – $24.00 per hour, depending on qualifications (DOQ).

Requirements: What We’re Looking ForMinimum Qualifications (Oregon ELD Lead Teacher — Required)

Candidates must meet Oregon ELD licensing requirements for Lead Teacher qualification:

• At least 20 semester credits (or 30 quarter credits) in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field, OR

• One year of qualifying teaching experience (minimum 1,500 hours) in a licensed early childhood program with preschool-aged children

Additional Requirements

• Enrollment in the Oregon Central Background Registry

• Current Adult & Pediatric First Aid, CPR & AED certification

• Current Oregon Food Handler’s Card

• Completion of required ELD trainings: RRCAN, ICCHS, PBtT, FFL, and Safe Sleep for Oregon’s Infants

• Ability to complete at least 15 hours of annual continuing education in early childhood education (VHFLC offers paid training hours and wage increase incentives for continued education)
