Job Description

Associate Director, Product Management

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Associate Director, Product Management based in United States.

This is a highly visible product leadership role focused on shaping a sophisticated internal platform at the intersection of AI, software, and small-molecule drug discovery.
You will own the product vision, roadmap, and execution for a platform that serves as a central interface for scientific discovery programs.
Working closely with medicinal chemists, molecular design scientists, engineers, and computational teams, you will translate complex scientific needs into intuitive digital experiences.
You will help integrate AI agents and automated workflows that make advanced computational capabilities accessible to non-technical scientific users.
The role combines strategic product leadership with hands-on execution, requiring strong judgment across discovery, prioritization, design, and delivery.
You will also influence how internal tools evolve toward scalable, secure, and potentially external-facing enterprise products.
This is an opportunity to shape technology that can accelerate the discovery and development of new medicines while working at the forefront of AI-enabled science.

Accountabilities
  • Own the complete product lifecycle for the internal drug discovery platform, defining and maintaining a roadmap aligned with broader scientific, technological, and business objectives.
  • Establish product vision, priorities, and success metrics, balancing immediate scientific requirements with long-term scalability and platform strategy.
  • Regularly communicate product strategy, progress, impact, and priorities to executive leadership and key organizational stakeholders.
  • Develop a deep understanding of medicinal chemistry, molecular design, and small-molecule program workflows to identify friction points and opportunities for product improvement.
  • Translate complex scientific and computational capabilities into intuitive, reliable, and scalable user experiences that support the full design-make-test-analyze cycle.
  • Serve as the primary bridge between scientific stakeholders and engineering, AI, machine learning, and computational teams, ensuring product requirements accurately reflect scientific and technical realities.
  • Lead the integration of AI agents, automated workflows, and advanced computational tools into the platform experience, making sophisticated capabilities accessible to non-computational users.
  • Partner with technical teams to define requirements, prioritize development work, and ensure reliable delivery of high-quality product capabilities.
  • Monitor user engagement, adoption, and program performance to evaluate product effectiveness and continuously improve the platform.
  • Apply SaaS product management principles to establish the platform as a scalable command center for small-molecule discovery programs.
  • Collaborate with SRE and DevOps teams on highly available and reliable application architectures and deployments.
  • Help define the requirements for transitioning complex internal capabilities toward broader enterprise or external use cases, including service expectations, security, governance, and deployment considerations.
  • Champion appropriate data privacy, security, and governance practices when working with sensitive proprietary datasets.
  • Balance rapid iteration and responsiveness to internal scientific stakeholders with the architectural, UX, and operational requirements necessary for long-term product scalability.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience managing complex, highly technical software products in a technology-first, SaaS, or high-growth environment.
  • Strong product management fundamentals across product discovery, definition, prioritization, roadmap development, and execution.
  • Demonstrated success building and managing complex internal tools or platforms used by highly technical teams.
  • Strong technical fluency with the ability to understand complex AI, ML, and computational concepts and translate them into effective user-facing product capabilities.
  • Proven track record of shipping reliable, robust software in agile environments while balancing long-term product vision with immediate business or scientific requirements.
  • Strong strategic thinking, product judgment, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across scientific, engineering, AI/ML, computational, and executive stakeholder groups.
  • Experience translating complex technical or scientific workflows into intuitive products and experiences.
  • Experience expanding sophisticated internal tools into external-facing enterprise products is preferred, including defining requirements, service expectations, SLAs, and client expectations.
  • Familiarity with highly available software architectures and secure cloud deployments, including collaboration with SRE and DevOps teams, is preferred.
  • Experience with secure or client-hosted cloud environments, such as private or secure VPC deployments, is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of data privacy, security, governance, and the management of sensitive proprietary or third-party datasets is preferred.
  • Ability to develop long-term product strategies that balance fast-moving internal needs with the requirements of future external users and enterprise deployments.
  • Experience in life sciences, drug discovery, or computational biology is helpful but not required; strong software product expertise is the primary qualification.
Benefits
  • Competitive annual salary of $195,000–$294,000, depending on experience.
  • Participation in the company’s stock option plan.
  • 3% retirement safe harbor contribution.
  • Fully paid medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Fully paid life and disability insurance.
  • Opportunity to work at the intersection of AI, software, chemistry, and drug discovery.
  • Highly visible product leadership role with direct exposure to executive leadership and cross-functional scientific and technical teams.
  • Hands-on environment that encourages ownership, creativity, accountability, and meaningful contribution.
  • Opportunity to influence the development of advanced technology designed to accelerate the discovery of new medicines.
