Job Description

Position Summary:

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of transportation operations across multiple locations, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of services. This position directly supervises CDL drivers, dispatch personnel, and daily route operations while maintaining high standards for safety, customer service, operational performance, and regulatory compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise transportation operations across multiple locations.
  • Oversee CDL drivers, dispatchers, route assignments, scheduling, and staffing.
  • Monitor route performance, productivity, and customer service.
  • Coach, train, evaluate, and discipline employees.
  • Ensure compliance with FMCSA, DOT, HOS, ELD, and company policies.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and customer complaints.
  • Coordinate fleet maintenance and vehicle availability.
  • Review payroll exceptions, attendance, PTO, and operational reports.
  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training.
  • Serve as operational support by driving commercial vehicles when needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; college preferred.
  • Valid Class A CDL required.
  • Minimum one (1) year verifiable CDL driving experience.
  • Minimum one (1) year Supervisory experience in transportation or logistics preferred.
  • Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations.
  • Experience with dispatch, routing, Microsoft Office, and telematics.
  • Flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and on-call support

Physical & Environmental Requirements:

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged sitting (office/administrative work)
  • Prolonged standing (warehouse/onsite support)
  • Walking for extended periods across facilities or yards
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching
  • Reaching above/below shoulder level
  • Repetitive hand/wrist movements (typing, scanning, equipment use)
  • Operating equipment or commercial vehicles safely (forklift, pallet jack, etc.)
  • Travel between multiple locations
  • Climbing stairs or ladders

Work Environment:

  • Office environment
  • Outdoor work (yards, loading areas, client sites)
  • Exposure to varying temperatures (heat/cold)
  • Exposure to moderate/high noise levels
  • Fast-paced, high-volume operational environment
