Tax & Compliance Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Tax & Compliance Manager based in the United States.

As Tax & Compliance Manager, you will lead tax strategy, compliance, and regulatory operations across a growing, multi-entity organization.
You will serve as a key subject matter expert, partnering closely with Finance, Legal, Engineering, Payroll, and external advisors.
The role combines strategic tax planning with hands-on ownership of complex federal, state, local, and international obligations.
You will help strengthen compliance frameworks, improve internal controls, and build scalable processes that support continued growth.
Your expertise will also contribute to entity structuring, acquisitions, indirect tax, information reporting, and emerging regulatory requirements.
This is a highly visible opportunity for an experienced tax professional who enjoys solving complex problems and operating with autonomy.
You will have a direct opportunity to influence tax strategy, risk management, and operational efficiency across the organization.

Accountabilities
  • Serve as the primary tax subject matter expert, advising Finance and cross-functional leaders on tax planning, compliance, risk management, and strategic opportunities.
  • Manage tax compliance and reporting across a complex multi-entity structure, including partnership taxation, K-1 preparation and review, and ownership and tiered-entity considerations.
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors on federal, state, local, and international filings, tax planning initiatives, audits, and technical tax matters.
  • Support tax planning and analysis related to new entities, acquisitions, and evolving domestic and international business structures.
  • Own indirect tax compliance activities, including sales tax, VAT registrations, reconciliations, and recurring reporting requirements.
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive compliance calendar covering tax, regulatory, and statutory filing obligations across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Act as a primary point of contact with government agencies and taxing authorities, ensuring communications and documentation are accurate, timely, and well maintained.
  • Oversee annual information reporting, including Forms 1099 and 1042.
  • Partner with Legal and external advisors on GDPR, privacy, and other regulatory compliance initiatives that have tax or business-process implications.
  • Coordinate third-party compliance reviews and broader corporate compliance initiatives across Finance and Legal.
  • Track and report artist garnishments in coordination with Legal and Payroll.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline tax and compliance workflows, strengthen internal controls, improve reporting, and automate manual processes.
  • Prepare concise recommendations and executive-level updates covering tax positions, filing status, emerging risks, and strategic opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Finance, and external advisors to document and support Section 174 R&D capitalization and amortization requirements for tax compliance and provision purposes.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in corporate tax, partnership tax, tax compliance, or a related discipline within a complex multi-entity organization.
  • Strong knowledge of partnership taxation, pass-through entities, and federal, state, and local tax compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience working with external tax advisors, auditors, legal counsel, and regulatory or taxing authorities.
  • Exposure to international tax matters and experience coordinating compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Proven ability to balance strategic tax planning with hands-on execution and operational ownership.
  • Strong understanding of scalable compliance processes, internal controls, and process improvement.
  • CPA license required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex tax concepts into clear recommendations for business and finance stakeholders.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and judgment skills with the ability to identify risks and recommend practical solutions.
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating effectively across Finance, Legal, Engineering, Payroll, and external partners.
  • Experience with indirect tax, sales tax, VAT, information reporting, or R&D tax requirements is highly valuable.
  • Familiarity with technology, SaaS, or other rapidly scaling business environments is a plus.
