Job Description

Recruiter/ Talent Acquisition Specialist

The Office of the Provost is currently hiring a Recruiter/ Talent Acquisition specialist to join the department. The provost, the university’s Chief Academic Officer, is responsible for leading the team that develops and implements the University's academic vision. The provost provides general oversight of academic affairs, including education, faculty, and student life. The provost has primary responsibility for all aspects of the University of Pittsburgh’s academic mission. The Office of the Provost is comprised of a variety of departments, including Undergraduate Studies, Graduate Studies, the Center for Excellence in Digital Education (EDGE), Student Success—and more.

Supporting the Business & Operations team, the Recruiter/ Talent Acquisition Specialist will be involved in all aspects of the recruitment process from start to finish. This includes working closely with hiring leadership to assess priorities and talent acquisition needs, developing recruitment plans, reviewing applications, conducting candidate interviews, and creating structured competency-based interview plans.


A bachelor's degree and 2-3 years of relevant professional experience is required. Candidates with experience recruiting for higher education, nonprofits, and/or marketing/communications positions desirable. Knowledge of the legal and compliance issues related to the hiring process is essential.

This is a position that requires strong customer service skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail—and a good sense of humor. The department is interested in candidates who are resourceful, solutions-oriented, and driven to provide great experiences both for candidates and hiring managers. The department is also especially interested in candidates who are moved by the mission of higher education and eager to support it.

Work Schedule: Monday- Friday, 8:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. EST

Work Arrangement: Hybrid: Combination of On-Campus and Remote work as determined by the department.
