Job Description

Food Service Assistants - Fun Team Atmosphere!!!

We look for reliable, hard working, self motivated staff members to join our food service operation, providing nutritious meals for our campers.

We recruit a dedicated, diverse staff who make sure our campers get the best summer camp experience we can provide. All of our summer program fees are heavily subsidized, thus ensuring that all children can afford to attend our camp.

QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE:
  • Must be 16 years of age or older

  • Experience helping in kitchen settings is preferred but not mandatory.

  • Ability to take/pass ServSafe food handler online course.

  • Ability to safely use kitchen equipment and appliances.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
  • Desire to work and live in a camp community with a diverse population of staff and campers

  • Good communication skills

  • Able to follow instructions and work as part of a team

  • Comfortable working in a fast paced environment

  • Exhibit enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, integrity, self-motivation and adaptability

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Ability to load/unload supplies from delivery trucks, stock supply closets and walk-in cooling units.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to operate electrical/mechanical kitchen equipment (within the limits of child labor laws.)

  • Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the job.
    Physical ability to participate in all facets of camp food service operations
    Ability to work long hours or split shifts if needed

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Food preparation: assist with washing, peeling, cutting, assembling, slicing and packaging ingredients.

  2. Counter service: serve meals in the dining hall and prepare pack out meals .

  3. Dishwashing: hand washing and machine washing utensils, kitchen equipment, plates, pots, etc.

  4. Clean, stock and inventory and clean refrigerators, freezers, and stockroom.

  5. Clean kitchen and sanitize kitchen, dining hall areas, rest rooms and outdoor trash areas including mopping and sweeping as required.

  6. Clean, stock, and maintain the kitchen, refrigerator, freezer, and stockroom
    Unload supplies from delivery trucks.
    Assist with proper disposal of trash, compost and recyclables
    Follow all food health and safety regulations
    Assist with other Food Service duties as assigned
