This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Purchasing and Procurement Planner based in the United States.
This role is responsible for leading end-to-end procurement activities for direct materials, ensuring supply continuity, cost efficiency, and supplier performance across key categories. You will play a critical role in aligning purchasing strategies with production needs, business forecasts, and organizational cost objectives. Acting as a key interface between suppliers and internal stakeholders, you will help ensure timely delivery of materials while maintaining data accuracy across ERP systems. The position requires strong analytical capability, attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex supplier relationships in a fast-paced supply chain environment. You will collaborate closely with finance, supply chain, logistics, and compliance teams to resolve issues and improve procurement outcomes. This is a highly cross-functional role with direct impact on operational efficiency, cost control, and customer delivery performance.
- Manage and execute purchasing activities for direct materials across assigned categories, ensuring alignment with production schedules and supply chain requirements.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that support cost targets, supplier performance standards, and continuity of supply.
- Enter, update, and maintain purchase orders in ERP systems (SAP), including changes, expediting, and return processing as needed.
- Ensure accuracy of procurement data including pricing, lead times, ETAs, freight, and tariff information within SAP and related systems.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for supplier relationships, managing performance, communication, and issue resolution.
- Coordinate with Accounts Payable, vendors, and internal stakeholders to resolve invoice discrepancies and pricing issues.
- Collaborate with supply chain teams to align purchasing activities with demand forecasts and vendor lead times.
- Monitor inbound deliveries and support ATP accuracy to ensure operational visibility and supply reliability.
- Analyze procurement data, vendor scorecards, and KPI metrics to identify trends and performance improvement opportunities.
- Partner with finance and compliance teams to support audits, cost validation, and regulatory alignment.
- Track vendor performance and recommend corrective actions, cost-saving initiatives, and process improvements.
- Participate in operational meetings to provide updates on procurement status and support time-sensitive production and installation needs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
- 5–8 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, logistics, or supply chain planning roles.
- Strong hands-on experience with SAP or similar ERP purchasing systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Solid understanding of procurement processes, supplier management, and inventory/material planning.
- Experience managing supplier relationships and resolving pricing, delivery, or contract-related issues.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with finance, supply chain, operations, and external vendors.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders effectively.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience analyzing procurement KPIs, vendor performance metrics, and cost optimization opportunities.
- Competitive salary ranging from $75,000 to $81,000 depending on experience.
