Registered Nurse (RN) Nursing Prof Dev Practitioner– RWJBarnabas Health

This role might be for you if: 

  • You have expertise in education and/or specific area of nursing practice and is based in a nursing division of service,
  • You are responsible and accountable for the development and application of the Standards of care with Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children s Hospital of New Jersey in an effort to enhance the quality of care provided to patients and families
  • The primary function is that of an educator, practitioner, consultant and change agent
  • Able to assess data relevant to the learner's progress and interpret the appropriate information necessary to develop group and individual learning plans
  • The NPD Practitioner is a clinical expert when positioned in a practice setting with abilities to foster the clinical development of the staff that he/she guides
  • Assess the educational needs of the staff on an ongoing basis and to serve as a resource or coach for the nursing staff education team, management, and other healthcare providers
  • Assess learning needs of a group of employees and identifies priority learning needs in congruence with organizational goals trended data and regulatory standards
  • Plans designs and develops learning performance initiatives to meet identified priority learning needs
  • Coordinates and implements cost effective learning performance initiatives designed to close the performance gap or to raise the performance bar
  • Leads complex work groups to increase the performance of staff and enhances performance improvement initiatives
  • Evaluates documents and reports outcomes
  • Acts as a change agent for new departmental organizational processes
  • Coaches and develops other educators and acts as a role model in building supportive and collaborative work relationships with others
  • Serves as a clinical resource for the nursing staff and health care provided to achieve optimal patient outcomes
  • Disseminates recent innovations and research findings relevant to education nursing practice and patient outcomes to foster evidence base practice
  • Links nurses to professional development and other relevant resources
  • Designs and implements evaluation plans for programs and projects
  • Clear, compassionate communication defines how you interact with patients, families, and colleagues

To be considered for this opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing or Multistate RN License with NJ Endorsement and a current American Heart Association BLS certification, ACLS Certification . A Master’s degree in Nursing as is prior Educator/Preceptor experience and comfort with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. Minimum (5) five years of current or recent acute care hospital experience. This position offers a Full-time Day schedule 37.5 hours per week. Schedule during the week will vary depending on department needs, allowing you to build strong relationships while maintaining balance.
