This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a GCN Director Sales Engineering based in United States.
This is a senior technical sales leadership role responsible for directing a team of Sales Engineers supporting major Global Cloud Networking customers. You’ll lead the engineering of sophisticated network solutions while shaping customer technology strategies and product adoption. The role sits at the intersection of cloud networking, optical and routing technologies, software, services, and customer business needs. You’ll work closely with engineering, product, operations, support, and executive stakeholders to deliver strong customer outcomes and influence future product direction. The position combines people leadership, technical expertise, strategic sales execution, and business development. Supporting customers across the Northwest region, the role includes significant travel and collaboration across a globally distributed organization.
- Lead and continue to build a high-performing Sales Engineering team, establishing consistent methodologies across engineering, support, operations, and new product introduction activities.
- Provide leadership and strategic direction to Sales Engineering teams supporting major Global Cloud Networking accounts and contribute to the broader customer engagement strategy.
- Partner with engineering, services, operations, product lifecycle management, software, and support organizations to deliver a world-class customer experience.
- Provide solutions sales and business development oversight for the Global Cloud Networking vertical, with particular emphasis on software, routing, and edge strategies.
- Lead technical customer engagements, introducing technologies and solutions while ensuring product and technology direction aligns with evolving customer requirements.
- Develop and communicate network solutions to customers, collaborating effectively with internal teams and external technical and executive stakeholders.
- Build strong relationships with customer engineering, deployment, and executive teams to influence technology direction and facilitate product introductions.
- Prepare and present strategic business reviews to senior management covering opportunity size, progress, technology gaps, risks, and future opportunities.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting, forecasting, order execution, and revenue management across the assigned portfolio.
- Develop strong working relationships with Operations, Product Lifecycle Management, Software, Support, and other internal organizations.
- Support customer development initiatives by gathering insights that can inform future product strategies and collaborating across teams to address engineering, support, and business challenges.
- Make independent decisions on routine sales management activities while operating within established policies and procedures.
- Work effectively within a globally matrixed sales organization and communicate with customers and internal stakeholders outside standard business hours when required.
- Travel regularly to customer locations and internal facilities, with 25%+ travel expected and occasional international travel.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent professional experience; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- 12–15+ years of technical experience in telecommunications, data communications, networking software and hardware, architecture, product lifecycle management, or solution development.
- Sales management experience, with prior Sales Engineering leadership strongly preferred.
- Experience working with Internet Content Provider (ICP) customers and established relationships with key ICP decision-makers.
- Detailed understanding of cloud networking environments across Data Center, Edge, and Core architectures.
- Strong knowledge of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and network element APIs.
- Broad understanding of cloud networking operations, planning, engineering, software environments, and emerging applications.
- Ability to lead teams and manage complex technical projects or product initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of sophisticated technical concepts and the ability to explain architecture, trade-offs, and new ideas to both technical and business audiences.
- Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven leadership, problem-solving, project management, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical and quantitative abilities, with the capacity to use data and metrics to support strategic decisions and business narratives.
- Strong prioritization and time management skills, with a bias toward action and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

- Annual base salary range of $237,500–$380,000 USD for the listed Washington State location, with the range reflecting different levels of experience, skills, market conditions, and location.
