This role provides essential administrative, scheduling, and customer service support within a busy diagnostic imaging environment.
You will help patients and clinical teams navigate financial screening, eligibility, managed care requirements, referrals, and complex imaging appointments.
The position combines radiology-specific scheduling with insurance authorization, payment collection, and coordination of supporting services.
You will work closely with physicians, clinics, nursing teams, referring providers, patients, and insurance carriers to facilitate efficient care.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills are essential when resolving complex or time-sensitive concerns.

This is a full-time position with a variable Monday–Friday schedule and the ability to work remotely.
The PAS Resource Specialist coordinates patient access and diagnostic imaging services while serving as a knowledgeable resource for managed care, scheduling, and patient support.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of managed care plans, authorization requirements, and applicable coding requirements.
- Obtain authorizations for consultations, procedures, office visits, care arrangements, and related clinical or ancillary services.
- Act as a liaison and information resource for physicians, nursing staff, PAS specialists, referring offices, patients, and other healthcare teams.
- Schedule complex patient appointments across diagnostic imaging modalities using online systems and manual processes when necessary.
- Maintain accurate scheduling information for providers, resources, and imaging services.
- Collect required order and clinical information from physicians and clinics, including diagnoses, coding, equipment requirements, and other details needed to schedule imaging procedures.
- Coordinate pre-operative appointments, PAT clinics, IRU time, and other ancillary or clinical services as required.
- Collect patient payments and organize records or imaging films associated with appointments.
- Resolve patient, provider, and managed care concerns using strong problem-solving and negotiation skills.
- Deliver professional, responsive customer service through telephone, in-person, and other communication channels.
- Support complaint resolution, crisis management, process improvement, and flexible coverage of internal service needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate has experience in a medical office or other high-volume public-facing environment, with strong knowledge of patient access processes and the ability to manage complex scheduling and authorization requirements.
- One year of experience in a medical office setting involving high-volume direct patient contact, appointment scheduling, and managed care authorization experience; or
- One and a half years of experience in a high-volume direct public contact role plus six months of medical office experience.
- Thorough knowledge of PAS policies and procedures, including advanced PAS user skills and familiarity with integrated healthcare processes.
- Basic computer skills, including word processing and Windows applications.
- Experience with online scheduling systems and preferably database applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong customer service orientation and demonstrated ability to manage challenging or confrontational customer interactions effectively.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining concentration and accuracy in a busy, fast-paced environment.
- Associate degree preferred.
- Two or more years of medical office experience preferred.
- Radiology office experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with RIS and EPIC systems preferred.
- Database skills and knowledge of radiology-specific medical terminology are advantageous.
Benefits:
- Estimated salary of $27.78–$37.54 per hour, with offers based on experience, education, and internal equity.
- Regular full-time position with a 1.00 FTE.
- Monday–Friday variable schedule, generally within 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
