Position Summary:
A-State Online Services is seeking an energetic person to provide comprehensive advising for students and prospective students concerning college/department programs and opportunities. This position assists students in educational planning through degree completion.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for providing professional advising to students from entry of degree program to completion through the implementation of academic planning and acts as a liaison for the department.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Familiarity with higher education at A-State and in general. Personal interaction abilities as this position interacts with many prospective students. Technical skills to develop and use automated communication plans with prospects.
General Days/Hours:
Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Additional hours as requested and/or needed

This position has been identified as a telecommuting position. The duties are performed during standard work hours of 8am-5pm at a predefined and approved work location. Individuals filling this role must have dedicated work space that provides privacy and security related to the work being performed. Additionally, individuals must have secure internet access with appropriate upload/download capabilities to perform the duties associated with the position. Individuals in this position will be required to review and acknowledge the Telecommuting Guidelines and Telecommuting Agreement for A-State.
Location Requirement: To be considered for this position, candidates must reside in Arkansas or a state that shares a border with Arkansas (Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Missouri, or Oklahoma. This residency requirement supports team collaboration, regional knowledge, and occasional in person engagement as needed.
Reports to Program Director of A-State Online Services. Works with admissions personnel within A-State Online programs. The ideal candidate must exhibit excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills; adhere to strict ethical standards; be student-focused in philosophy by demonstrating an ability to respond effectively to the needs of a diverse student population; manage stress and remain flexible in a changing, fast-paced environment; be knowledgeable regarding the practice of advising and marketing; be able to effectively use computer-based advising and academic systems as well as other computer programs, including Word and Excel.
Minimum Qualifications:
The formal education equivalent of an earned Bachelor's Degree.

- The Academic Advisor will be responsible for providing academic advising for A-State Online Students in both Graduate and Undergraduate degrees.
- Provide comprehensive advisement services to A-State Online students in a timely manner for 6 start dates per year.
- Provide degree plans and course recommendations to assist online students in completing their degrees in the most efficient way possible.
- Answer student questions via e-mail, telephone and virtual platform (e.g. Zoom).
- Other duties as assigned.
