High School Site Director - Transit Tech High School
Global Kids’ (GK) mission is to educate, inspire, and mobilize youth to become global citizens who are positively engaged in the world and prepared for their future. Over the past 36 years, Global Kids has engaged thousands of young people through innovative youth development programs that promote global awareness, civic engagement, leadership development, and social action.
The Site Director will work collaboratively with New York City Public Schools, the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD), and Transit Tech High School to provide high-quality workforce development and out-of-school-time services to high school-aged youth through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Learn & Earn Program and the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) grant.
The Site Director leads all aspects of program implementation, including youth engagement and recruitment, workforce development programming, school and community partnerships, staff supervision, employer engagement, and program compliance. This role ensures that all program activities align with Global Kids’ mission, organizational goals, and funder expectations while delivering meaningful outcomes for young people.
Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Implementation
- Lead the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of workforce development and out-of-school programming.Design and implement engaging programs that support youth leadership, career readiness, social-emotional development, civic engagement, STEM learning, and service learning.Collaborate with Global Kids staff to develop curriculum and programming aligned with organizational and grant objectives.Coordinate special events, field trips, family engagement activities, showcases, and other experiential learning opportunities.Foster connections between school-day learning and extended-day programming.Support participation in Global Kids citywide initiatives, events, and professional development opportunities.Participate in occasional evening, weekend, overnight, and long-distance travel as required.Oversee special projects and produce ad hoc reports as they arise based on program needs.
Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with students, families, school leadership, teachers, community organizations, employers, and other stakeholders.Partner with school staff and community partners to ensure safe, inclusive, and high-quality programming.Build and sustain workforce development opportunities, including employer partnerships and career exploration experiences for participants.Connect youth and families to appropriate resources and support services.Represent Global Kids in school and community meetings, committees, and partnership initiatives.
Staff Supervision & Team Leadership
- Lead day-to-day site operations and ensure successful implementation of program goals and objectives.Supervise, coach, support, and evaluate site-based staff, including Coordinators, Group Leaders, interns, and teaching artists.Facilitate regular team meetings, professional development opportunities, and performance conversations.Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable team culture.Collaborate with organizational leadership to recruit, hire, onboard, and retain high-quality staff.
Compliance & Operations
- Ensure program operations, documentation, attendance tracking, and reporting requirements are completed accurately and on time.Monitor program performance and maintain accurate student, staff, and program records.Ensure compliance with multiple grants, for example, WIOA and 21st Century.Ensure compliance with Equal Opportunity and related program requirements.Serve as the site's liaison for Equal Opportunity and accessibility matters.Support implementation of reasonable accommodations, language access services, and non-discrimination policies.Maintain required compliance documentation and participate in all required training and audits.Support budget oversight and resource management in accordance with organizational policies.
Qualifications
Required
- A bachelor's degree is required.Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in youth development, workforce development, education, or a related field.Strong communication, writing, organizational, and technology skills.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Commitment to working in culturally diverse environments and utilizing equity-centered and anti-racist practices.Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with youth, families, school partners, employers, and community stakeholders.Passion for youth development, education, civic engagement, and social impact.
Preferred
- Experience managing DYCD-funded, WIOA-funded, 21st CCLC-funded, or other publicly funded youth workforce and out-of-school-time programs.Knowledge of WIOA performance measures, documentation requirements, and program compliance standards.Familiarity with New York City Public Schools policies and procedures.Experience supervising staff and managing teams.Knowledge of youth-serving, workforce development, and social service resources throughout New York City.Demonstrated interest in global issues, education, human rights, youth leadership, and social activism.Bilingual or multilingual language skills are strongly preferred.
Compensation:
$70,000 - $80,000 annually, commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications.
