Job Description
Title: Project Scheduler
Location: Sullivan, IN
Division: Enerfab Power & Industrial
Reports to: Project Executive
Salary Range: $130,000 to $135,000
Company Summary:
Enerfab has over 125 years of experience, offering fabrication and construction capabilities to a wide variety of customers for the chemical, food & beverage, oil & gas, heavy industrial and power industries. Founded in 1901, our company began making sealants and lacquers — including a patented formula for brewer’s pitch — for beer tanks and vessels. Over the last century, our expanded capabilities, project experience, safety record, and commitment to quality have made Enerfab one of the industry leaders in shop fabrication, field erection and construction and maintenance services.
The Project Scheduler plays a critical role in supporting the successful execution of complex construction projects by managing project controls tools and processes that drive cost, schedule, and resource accountability. This entry-level position will provide hands-on experience in industrial project planning, cost forecasting, earned value management, and change control—skills that are highly valued in the heavy industrial and power sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Scheduling:
• Develop and maintain Primavera P6 schedules for field-based capital and maintenance projects, including turnarounds, shutdowns, and outages.
• Build and maintain Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and Activity Codes to support schedule reporting by craft, system, or scope.
• Assist in resource loading by discipline, shift, and subcontractor to support manpower planning and resource leveling.
• Support critical path method (CPM) scheduling techniques to identify key dependencies and project drivers.
Cost Management & Forecasting:
• Support the development and maintenance of project cost reports, including committed costs, actuals, earned value, and remaining forecasts.
• Track field labor hours by craft and compare against budgeted labor curves and productivity goals.
• Coordinate with procurement to track equipment, materials, and subcontractor commitments and integrate them into forecast reports.
• Participate in the preparation of monthly project cost forecasts and risk-adjusted contingency plans.
Earned Value & Performance Tracking:
• Assist in calculating and reporting on earned value metrics such as CPI (Cost Performance Index), SPI (Schedule Performance Index), and percent complete.
• Compare planned vs. actual progress and prepare variance analyses with supporting narratives.
• Track field installation quantities (e.g., weld inches, linear feet, equipment sets) against budgeted targets.
Change Management & Risk Mitigation:
• Log and track all project changes, including scope modifications, delays, and field conditions, ensuring proper documentation and approvals.
• Analyze change impacts on cost and schedule and support the update of baseline forecasts accordingly.
• Participate in risk reviews and support the development of mitigation strategies, including schedule acceleration or resequencing.
Controls Integration in Industrial Environments:
• Integrate cost, schedule, and scope control through coordination with field superintendents, safety, QA/QC, procurement, and engineering.
• Understand the unique challenges of industrial construction, including confined work windows, multiple concurrent crews, and safety-critical execution.
• Work closely with planners, estimators, and field teams to update schedules with field progress data and constraints.
Reporting and Communication:
• Generate weekly and monthly project performance reports, including man-hour trends, cost and schedule variances, and executive dashboards.
• Support field progress tracking meetings and collaborate with superintendents and project managers to validate earned progress.
• Communicate status updates and key metrics to internal leadership and client representatives.
Document Control and Data Management:
• Maintain organized digital files of schedules, reports, change logs, and supporting documentation.
• Ensure adherence to project controls procedures and support audits as required.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
• 4-8 years of experience in project controls, scheduling, cost engineering, or field project support in an industrial or heavy construction environment.
• Proficiency in Primavera P6 is required. Familiarity with cost control software, Power BI, or ERP systems (e.g., SAP) is a plus.
• Excellent Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data visualization.
• Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail in high-pressure environments.
• Effective communicator, both written and verbal, with an ability to present complex information clearly.
• Valid driver’s license; travel to field sites is required.
