Job Description
The Recovery Support Assistant (RSA) greets visitors to the Peer Recovery Support Center (PRSC) and helps people seek help with access to resources and services at the center and in the community. The RSA also serves in a Recovery Coach/peer mentor role by helping members to assess needs and barriers to sustaining recovery and creating wellness plans with members. The RSA should be the warm and friendly face who welcomes people frequently in distress or need.
Duties:
The RSA will greet visitors who enter the center with a warm and friendly demeanor and treat each visitor with dignity and respect.
The RSA is to educate visitors on resources available at the PRSC and throughout the community that may be a fit for the visitors’ needs.
The RSA embraces the multiple pathway's philosophy and is trained to deliver Recovery Coaching and peer mentoring for members requesting this form of support.
The RSA shall assist with general duties at the center including keeping the center tidy and neat, making coffee, preparing snacks, loading/unloading dishwasher etc.
The RSA is responsible for opening/closing the center on days and times assigned by the Program Director and to ensure that the premises is safe and secure.
The RSA may lead or facilitate groups and other center activities per the direction of the Program Director and Assistant Program Director.
The RSA shall network and represent Alyssa’s Place in the community and will behave in a way that reflects the values and professional standards of the PRSC and agency.
The RSA will attend all mandatory meetings and training courses as required.
Other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate should be a person in recovery from a substance use disorder, who can demonstrate a level of personal health and self-care sufficient to handle the responsibilities of this role. The candidate should have good oral communication skills; computer skills are a plus. Must have a valid driver's license. Must have completed or be in the process of completing the suite of Recovery Coach training (BSAS approved) and be willing/ able to apply for certification.
Supervision Given: None
Supervision Received: The Peer Recovery Center Support Assistant is supervised by the Program Director.
Schedule: Friday 9 am-1 pm and Saturday 9 am-5 pm
