Job Description

Global Payroll Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Global Payroll Manager based in United States.

The Global Payroll Manager will oversee payroll operations across multiple entities, with direct ownership of U.S. and Canada payroll and oversight of international payroll through global providers. This role ensures employees are paid accurately, on time, and in compliance with applicable regulations across jurisdictions. You will manage payroll vendors, strengthen processes, and help create scalable operating standards as the organization grows. The position works closely with People, Finance, HRIS, and external partners to maintain data integrity and resolve complex payroll matters. You will also contribute to system improvements, automation, reporting, and regulatory initiatives. This is a remote opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who can combine operational expertise with strong analytical and stakeholder management skills.

Accountabilities:
  • Own end-to-end payroll processing for designated entities, including semi-monthly and bi-weekly payroll cycles, covering salaries, wages, bonuses, commissions, benefits, deductions, and tax withholdings.
  • Validate, reconcile, and audit payroll data, proactively identifying discrepancies and ensuring accurate and timely resolution.
  • Lead year-end payroll activities, including quarterly and annual tax reconciliations, W-2 preparation, and related filings.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and applicable international payroll regulations, including payroll tax registrations and requirements for new jurisdictions.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and coordinate timely updates to payroll processes, systems, and practices.
  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for payroll-related employee and stakeholder inquiries, resolving complex or escalated issues with discretion and accuracy.
  • Manage relationships with domestic and international payroll providers, ensuring service quality, compliance, issue resolution, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with HRIS and Finance teams to maintain payroll data integrity and seamless integration between systems and downstream processes.
  • Prepare, analyze, and deliver payroll reports that support financial and business decision-making.
  • Support payroll system enhancements, implementations, integrations, and automation initiatives.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that increase payroll accuracy, efficiency, consistency, and scalability.
  • Lead or contribute to payroll-related projects involving process standardization, policy updates, regulatory changes, and organizational growth.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of progressive payroll experience, including ownership of end-to-end payroll processing.
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements, with familiarity with international payroll and vendor-supported models.
  • Experience supporting multi-entity and/or multi-state payroll environments; Canadian payroll experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing or overseeing global payroll vendors or international payroll operations is preferred.
  • Experience working in a high-growth or evolving organization, including exposure to process improvements, system changes, or organizational scaling.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification or a similar credential is preferred.
  • Experience with payroll systems and HRIS platforms such as Workday, including reporting, data validation, and integrations.
  • Advanced Excel skills and the ability to work confidently with large datasets, reconciliations, and detailed payroll analysis.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple payroll cycles, competing priorities, and strict deadlines in a complex multi-entity environment.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with People, Finance, HRIS teams, and external vendors.
  • Ability to handle sensitive payroll, compensation, tax, and employee information with a high level of confidentiality and discretion.

Benefits:

  • Remote position available within the United States.
  • Annual salary range of $100,000–$130,000 USD for full-time employees.
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) and company-paid holidays.
  • 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance plan options.
  • Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA).
  • Bi-weekly employer HSA contributions.
  • Company-paid short-term and long-term disability coverage.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match.
  • Less than 10% travel, with occasional planned travel as required.
  • Fully remote office-based work environment.
