Construction Intern

Rochester, NY | On-site, Full-Time

We are seeking a motivated Construction Intern to join our team. This full-time, paid internship offers hands-on experience managing an ongoing construction project, while working alongside experienced industry professionals. The position is based in Rochester, NY, for May 2027-August 2027.

This position will support the team in coordinating and tracking key project activities throughout all phases of construction. This role provides exposure to core project management functions, including documentation control, communication tracking, and field support, while developing foundational skills in construction project execution.

Essential Functions & Accountabilities:

• Assist Project Managers with day-to-day coordination and administrative tasks to support active construction projects.
• Prepare, process, and track Requests for Information (RFIs) in a timely and organized manner.
• Assist with the preparation, review, and submission of project submittals, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Attend project meetings and accurately record and distribute meeting minutes and action items.
• Capture and upload site photos to Procore to document project progress.
• Support the change order process by gathering and organizing relevant documentation.
• Maintain organized project documentation, including contracts, drawings, permits, and correspondence.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and project requirements.
• Complete field reporting as required to document work in place for review by Project team.
• Complete special projects and all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or GED required; currently pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, or a related field.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required to travel to project sites throughout the Rochester area (mileage reimbursed).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to read, comprehend, and interpret written information.
• Ability to work independently, under direction and supervision, and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) required; experience with Procore or other project management software is a plus.
• Prior internship, co-op, coursework, or exposure related to construction, project management, project documentation, field operations, or a related industry is preferred but not required.
• OSHA 10 certification preferred.

Work Environment:

• Frequently required to sit, stand and walk.
• General office environment requiring frequent interaction with employees in a construction environment with exposure to noisy conditions.
• Prolonged use of a PC, laptops, display screens and mobile phone.
• Ability to work irregular hours to meet the needs of the business to achieve required performance.
• Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
• Adequate vision for reading plans, inspecting work, and ensuring safety compliance.
• Adequate hearing to recognize warnings and communicate effectively in noisy environments.
• Flexibility to bend, kneel, or reach to perform various tasks and inspect different site areas.
• Strong awareness of and adherence to safety protocols to minimize risk of injury on-site.

Pay Rate:

$20.00/hr-$23.00/hr
