Description

The Warehouse Operator 2 is the fully qualified warehouse classification. The role independently performs routine warehouse, inventory, receiving, shipping, inventory-location lookup and documentation responsibilities, resolves routine discrepancies and supports less experienced employees within demonstrated qualifications.

Responsibilities
  • Follows all required safety rules, PPE requirements, procedures and safe work practices and stops work when conditions are unsafe or outside training, qualification or authority.
  • Completes Warehouse Operator 1 requirements plus required inventory, logistics and systems training and maintains competency for assigned work.
  • Follows applicable SOPs, work instructions and documentation controls, independently completes routine records and provides or verifies assigned audit evidence.
  • Independently operates authorized fork trucks and powered material-handling equipment for routine work, completes pre-use inspections and supports follow-up on reported concerns.
  • Independently applies SDS, chemical compatibility, stacking, segregation, weight-limit and PPE requirements when handling drums, totes, pallets and containers and resolves or escalates routine discrepancies.
  • Independently verifies material identity, lot number, quantity, container condition, inventory status and correct labeling before movement, staging, receipt or shipment.
  • Creates and verifies routine finished-goods labels using approved information and established procedures and resolves discrepancies before release.
  • Identifies and documents damaged, defective, expired, out-of-specification or otherwise nonconforming material or packaging, protects it from unintended use or shipment and supports routine resolution.
  • Independently moves, stores, locates, puts away and returns raw materials, work in process, batches and finished goods using the correct location and inventory status and completes required return documentation.
  • Independently picks and stages routine production materials and resolves or escalates routine shortages, substitutions, timing problems and material discrepancies.
  • Independently unloads, receives, documents and routes routine inbound material to the correct storage, quarantine, inspection or production status and resolves routine discrepancies.
  • Independently packages, prepares, verifies, organizes and loads routine outbound material for shipment or distribution.
  • Independently uses the ERP system to locate inventory across warehouse locations and confirm material status and available quantity and identifies location or status discrepancies.
  • Maintains inventory accuracy, performs routine cycle counts, investigates inventory, location or status discrepancies and documents findings for correction by the appropriate person.
  • Monitors assigned areas for FIFO or FEFO, material rotation, shelf-life, segregation, quarantine and expired or out-of-specification material requirements and resolves or escalates routine issues.
  • Independently prepares, verifies and closes routine shipping, receiving and transfer paperwork, carrier labels, packing lists and bills of lading.
  • Maintains receiving logs, trailer or container boards and shipping and receiving schedule tools, verifies accuracy and identifies gaps.
  • Completes assigned routine scrap and waste handling, staging and documentation according to established requirements and identifies process or documentation issues.
  • Independently uses routine email, scanner, Microsoft Office and shipping-tool functions needed to complete assigned work and records.
  • Organizes assigned work, completes routine warehouse and shipping priorities independently and adjusts to changing priorities while communicating barriers.
  • Maintains warehouse, staging, loading and work areas in a clean, organized and safe condition and addresses or reports significant conditions.
  • Participates in spill, evacuation and emergency response activities as trained and assigned and takes initial action within training while supporting response and communication.
  • Communicates material status, work progress, delays, discrepancies and safety concerns, coordinates routine needs with appropriate departments and escalates unresolved priority conflicts.
  • May demonstrate qualified tasks and assist with assigned training without independently qualifying employees unless designated and authorized to do so.
  • Identifies process problems, recommends practical improvements to safety, accuracy, efficiency or material flow and supports approved implementation.
  • Performs other duties consistent with training, qualification and job classification as assigned.
Skills & Competencies
  • Demonstrated Warehouse Operator 1 capability and completion of required inventory, logistics and systems training.
  • Reading, writing and math skills needed to understand work instructions, labels, quantities, shipping documents and inventory records.
  • Independent working knowledge of routine warehouse, receiving, shipping, inventory-location lookup, inventory control and documentation requirements.
  • Ability to create and verify routine finished-goods labels and recognize discrepancies before release or shipment.
  • Ability to use applicable email, scanners, Microsoft Office, shipping tools and ERP inventory-location lookup functions for assigned work.
  • Ability to investigate routine inventory, location, status, receiving, shipping or documentation discrepancies and escalate unresolved issues.
  • Working knowledge of hazardous-material and container-handling requirements, including SDS information, chemical compatibility, segregation, stacking and required PPE.
  • Ability to demonstrate qualified tasks and assist with training while remaining within assigned authority.
  • Dependable attendance, punctuality and readiness for assigned shift work with effective teamwork and professional communication.
  • Ability, with reasonable accommodation where applicable, to perform the physical demands of the position, including standing, walking, climbing stairs or ladders, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching and handling materials as required; lift or move up to 50 pounds and heavier loads with assistance; obtain and maintain required fork truck certification; and wear required PPE, including respiratory protection, after completing required medical evaluation and fit testing.

COMMANDER'S INTENT - Independent Warehouse Execution: Independently complete routine warehouse, inventory, receiving and shipping work accurately and on time. Consistently follow PPE, hazardous material, container handling, chemical compatibility and powered equipment requirements. Stop work and escalate conditions that are unsafe or outside training or authority.

2 Inventory and Label Accuracy

Maintain dependable attendance, punctuality and readiness for assigned work. Follow through on responsibilities, complete assigned work on time and promptly communicate delays, changing conditions or barriers that could affect completion.
