Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Operator
Reports To: Shipping and Receiving Supervisor

Location: New Albany, IN

Position Summary:
The Shipping and Receiving Operator is responsible for efficiently processing incoming and outgoing shipments to support smooth production and distribution operations. This role ensures the accurate receipt, storage, picking, packing, and shipment of products while maintaining inventory accuracy through the use of RF scanners and ERP systems. The Shipping and Receiving Operator plays a critical role in maintaining an organized, safe, and productive warehouse environment, collaborating closely with team members to optimize workflow, meet shipping deadlines, and support overall operational efficiency in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy of products received, picked, packed, and shipped according to company and customer requirements.
  • Operate RF scanners and ERP systems to accurately track inventory movements and support shipping and receiving activities.
  • Perform picking and packing duties efficiently to prepare orders for shipment while meeting quality and accuracy standards.
  • Safely load and unload trucks, ensuring proper handling, labeling, and staging of all materials and finished goods.
  • Conduct regular inventory counts and assist with cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and orderly warehouse environment in accordance with company standards and safety protocols.
  • Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment safely and in compliance with training and certification requirements.
  • Collaborate with production, warehouse, and shipping teams to optimize workflow, prioritize shipments, and support operational goals.
  • Identify and report inventory discrepancies, damaged materials, or safety concerns to supervision promptly.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, consistently demonstrating a safety-first mindset in daily operations.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior experience working in a warehouse, shipping and receiving, or distribution environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with shipping and receiving processes, including picking, packing, and inventory control.
  • Experience using RF scanners and ERP systems for inventory tracking is preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment; certification or willingness to obtain certification required.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accuracy in inventory and order fulfillment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated reliability, teamwork, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with team members and supervisors.
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 55 pounds and perform physical tasks associated with warehouse operations.
  • Comfortable working in varying environmental conditions, including hot, cold, dusty, and noisy environments.
Physical & Behavioral Expectations:
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive physical tasks for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 55 pounds safely and in accordance with proper lifting techniques.
  • Comfortable working in an industrial warehouse environment with exposure to hot, cold, dusty, and noisy conditions.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment in compliance with company training and safety requirements.
  • Demonstrates consistent attention to detail and accuracy when handling inventory, shipping documentation, and product labeling.
  • Maintains a safety-first mindset, following all safety policies and proactively identifying and reporting hazards.
  • Exhibits reliability, punctuality, and accountability for assigned tasks and responsibilities.
  • Works effectively as part of a team, demonstrating cooperation, respect, and a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility when priorities shift to meet production and shipping demands.
  • Maintains professionalism and respectful communication with coworkers, supervisors, and cross-functional teams.
