Job Description

Description:

The HR Coordinator serves as the on-site HR presence for Carlton Farms, built around three core pillars: recruiting, general HR support, and safety support. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role well suited for someone who enjoys recruiting, staying close to safety and compliance on the floor, and working within the daily rhythm of a production operation.

Key Responsibilities:

Recruiting

  • Lead full-cycle recruiting for entry-level production roles, including job postings, screening, interviewing, and coordinating offers.
  • Support new hire onboarding and ensure proper documentation, including I-9 completion.

Safety

  • Provide basic workers’ compensation support, including completing and submitting Form 801 for reported injuries.
  • Support the site safety program for an 85-person facility, in partnership with Operations, including tracking training completion and assisting with safety meetings.

General HR Support

  • Track and administer daily employee attendance, following up with employees and supervisors on attendance policy compliance.
  • Serve as backup for payroll processing, ensuring continuity when the primary payroll contact is unavailable.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in HRIS and personnel files.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee questions regarding attendance, timekeeping, and general HR inquiries.
  • Support HR initiatives focused on employee engagement and communication.
  • Prepare basic reports related to recruiting activity, attendance, and headcount tracking.
  • Provide support for special projects and other HR functions as needed.
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience in HR, recruiting, or administrative support, ideally in an agricultural or production environment.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish required.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Google); experience with HRIS systems a plus.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Comfortable working in a production environment and wearing required PPE when needed.

Working Conditions:

  • Office-based with frequent interaction on the production floor of a USDA-inspected pork processing facility.
  • Regular presence in harvest and processing areas, with exposure to the sights, sounds, and smells associated with livestock slaughter and meat processing.
  • Exposure to refrigerated and cold-storage environments, loud noises, and production equipment.
  • Required to wear PPE appropriate to a meat processing environment, including in areas where animals are harvested.
