- Compensation: Starting at $23.42 per hour, based on education and experience.

What You'll Do as an Unregistered Radiology Technician
- Perform diagnostic X-ray imaging following physician orders and established protocols, within the scope of your certification.
- Ensure patient safety through proper positioning and adherence to imaging standards.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Collaborate with radiologists and healthcare teams to provide timely diagnostic imaging.
- Operate and maintain X-ray equipment, troubleshooting technical issues as needed.
- Provide patient education regarding procedures and ensure a positive patient experience.
- Adhere to UNC Health Appalachian policies, regulatory standards, and ethical guidelines.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Completion of Medical X-ray Operator-Limited Certification from a State Division of Health-Related Boards.
- Experience:
- Clinical radiographic and imaging experience from an AMA-accredited radiologic facility.
- Licensure/Certifications:
- Certification commensurate with Medical X-ray Operator-Limited State Certification.
- Ability to complete the Radiologic Technologist (limited to diagnostic X-ray) orientation program.
- Ability to perform diagnostic X-rays as referenced on the state certification performance card.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for patient and team interactions.
- Ability to deliver safe, effective patient care within the scope of licensure.
- Knowledge of imaging protocols and patient care standards.
- Exceptional customer service and attention to detail.
Physical & Work Environment
- Continuous standing and walking, often 8+ hours per shift; frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, turning, and reaching.
- Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull 50+ lbs, and frequently mobilize patients.
- Frequent fine motor skill use, hand dexterity, and close eye work; speaking, reading, and writing for extended periods.
- Frequent exposure to ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, and to hazards consistent with X-ray machines.
- Regular exposure to bloodborne pathogens and hazards from electrical/mechanical equipment; possible exposure to vibration and cramped spaces.
- Handles emergency or crisis situations.
- Irregular hours, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays; on-call may be required.
