CAH –Endocronology- Authorization/Referral Coordinator - Full Time Day Shift– Req 9753
Pay Range-$18.51-$23.60
The Authorization & Referral Coordinator manages patient scheduling, insurance authorizations, and referral lifecycles. This hybrid role links clinical staff, patients, schedulers, and insurers. The Coordinator ensures surgeries, tests, clearances, and medications are authorized and scheduled efficiently while maintaining strict confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
Referral & Authorization Management
- Prioritize STAT Requests: Process urgent referrals immediately ahead of routine cases.
- Secure Authorizations: Obtain prior insurance approvals for surgeries, tests, clearances, and medications.
- Handle Incoming Referrals: Verify active insurance, collect necessary records, and schedule appointments.
- Handle Outgoing Referrals: Transmit notes, progress charts, and images to designated external providers.
- Close the Loop: Exchange progress notes and treatment summaries with referring providers post-care.
- Track Communication: Monitor faxes, mail, and direct messages to prevent delays.
- Patient Delivery: Notify patients of appointments, preparation instructions, and authorization statuses.
- EHR Maintenance: Input and manage accurate electronic health records.
- Phone Operations: Route incoming calls and relay detailed messages.
- Front Desk Backup: Cover the receptionist desk when required (training provided).
- Patient Intake: Greet, register, and distribute required paperwork to patients.
- Form Assistance: Help patients complete intake and routine medical forms.
- Rules & Ethics: Follow company policies and maintain absolute HIPAA privacy compliance.
- General Support: Perform other tasks directed by the supervisor.
Required
- High School Graduate (or equivalent).
- 6 to 12 months of healthcare administration experience or training.
- Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in medical terminology.
- Prior experience using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
