Nurse Tech - Brownwood

JOB SUMMARY

  • The Patient Care Technician position provides Senior-level nursing students an opportunity to assist licensed nursing personnel in the implementation of day-to-day patient care as well as the routine operations of the nursing unit. The Patient Care Technician provides care to the patients appropriate to the assigned unit.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum Education
  • High school or equivalent

  • Enrolled in a prelicensure BSN or ADN program and completed first semester of nursing school

  • Minimum Work Experience
  • No previous work experience
  • Required Licenses/Certifications

  • BLS - should not initiate patient contact until completed

  • Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Input data in computer programs.
  • Maintain professional appearance at all times.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • The Nurse Tech position provides nursing students an opportunity to assist licensed nursing personnel in the implementation of day-to-day patient care as well as the routine operations of the nursing unit which assigned. The Nurse Tech provides care to the patients appropriate to the assigned unit.

  • Required Licenses/Certifications
    • CPR-BCLS
  • Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
    • A Nurse Technician must be a nursing student currently enrolled in and in good standing with nursing program. Nurse Technicians are required to work 48 hours per month.
    • Nurse Techs may continue to work in position after graduation of nursing school until they take their NCLEX. This will be reevaluated based on need by unit leadership.
    • Nurse Techs may remain in the Nurse Tech role if they are unsuccessful passing the NCLEX on their first attempt. After a second unsuccessful attempt, the Nurse Tech position would be terminated.
    • Input data in computer and programs.
    • Maintain professional appearance at all times.
    • Ability to handle confidential information.
