Therapeutic Mentor in Malden, Massachusetts at Sylvain Counseling Services

Sylvain Counseling Services is looking for a Therapeutic Mentor to provide practical, therapeutic support to children and families as part of an individualized care plan. This position works directly with families in their homes and communities, helping children build skills, establish routines, and make progress toward their goals.

Compensation & Benefits

• $25–$28 per hour, depending on experience

What You’ll Do

• Provide one-on-one support to children and families based on individualized treatment goals.
• Help children develop social, communication, behavioral, and everyday living skills.
• Work alongside parents and caregivers to establish routines, structure, and strategies that support children's day-to-day functioning.
• Meet with families in home and community settings as appropriate to the individual's service plan.
• Monitor progress and communicate observations and updates with the appropriate members of the care team.
• Connect families with community resources and coordinate support with schools, healthcare providers, social service organizations, and other partners.
• Advocate for children and families as they navigate education, healthcare, and community services.
• Participate in family support groups, workshops, or other programs designed to strengthen family engagement and skills.
• Complete required service documentation accurately and on time.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field preferred.
• Five years of relevant experience may be considered in place of a bachelor's degree.
• Experience working with children and families.
• Ability to teach and reinforce social skills and practical day-to-day living skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Comfortable building positive working relationships with children, parents, caregivers, and other professionals.
• Knowledge of community resources and family support services.
• Ability to work independently while remaining connected to a collaborative care team.
• Reliable personal vehicle for regular client visits.
• Must be at least 21 years of age for insurance purposes.
• Haitian Creole, Portuguese, Spanish, or other relevant bilingual skills are appreciated but not required.
