We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Legal Intern to join our team for an unpaid, part-time educational internship. This opportunity is designed for law students and undergraduate students interested in gaining hands-on exposure to the legal profession while learning alongside experienced Attorneys and legal professionals.

The Opportunity

The Legal Intern will participate in a structured learning experience within the Firm's Family Law or Immigration Law practice while gaining practical exposure to the day-to-day operations of a law firm. Under the direction and supervision of Attorneys and other legal team members, the intern will observe and assist with legal and case-related activities designed to develop professional communication, legal research, organization, judgment, and other practical legal skills. The internship is generally expected to involve approximately 20 hours per week, with scheduling designed to accommodate academic commitments.

Learning Activities & Responsibilities

  • Assist Attorneys and legal team members with supervised case-related projects and assignments.
  • Conduct basic legal and factual research and summarize findings for the legal team.
  • Assist with preparing, proofreading, formatting, and organizing legal documents and correspondence.
  • Assist with reviewing and organizing case files, records, exhibits, discovery, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with preparing hearing, mediation, trial, and other case-preparation materials.
  • Review documents and case information for completeness, organization, and basic inconsistencies.
  • Observe client meetings, consultations, hearings, and other legal proceedings when appropriate and authorized.
  • Gain exposure to case management, Firm workflows, professional standards, client service, and legal-office procedures.
  • Participate in Firm and team meetings, training sessions, and case discussions when appropriate.
  • Assist with supervised case-related and administrative projects that support the intern's learning and professional development.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and exercise professionalism when handling client and Firm information.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited law school, college, or university. Law students are preferred, although undergraduate students with a demonstrated interest in law or the legal profession will also be considered.
  • Students seeking academic credit must provide the Firm with any applicable requirements or documentation from their educational institution.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Dependable, punctual, professional, and accountable, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow instructions, accept constructive feedback, apply what is learned, and ask questions when clarification is needed.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise appropriate judgment when handling sensitive information.

Internship Structure

This is an unpaid educational internship designed to provide practical exposure to the legal profession and law firm operations, and there is no expectation of compensation for participation. The internship will include supervised assignments, observation, training, and feedback intended to support the intern's professional development. The Firm will work with interns seeking academic credit to accommodate applicable educational institution requirements, including reasonable documentation or evaluation requirements. The internship is for a defined period and does not create an expectation or guarantee of paid employment upon completion.
