Position Summary:

The Vibration Specialist is responsible for planning, setting up, performing, monitoring, and documenting vibration and mechanical shock testing in accordance with customer specifications, industry standards, and company procedures. This position ensures testing is conducted safely, accurately, and efficiently while maintaining the integrity of test data, laboratory equipment, and customer test samples.

Essential Functions*:

General Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review customer vibration/shock specifications, quotations, work orders, and test plans for accuracy, completeness, and technical feasibility.
  • Operates vibration test lab equipment.
  • Design and modify test fixtures within established engineering and laboratory guidelines.
  • Supplies lab director with fixture needs and any other materials necessary for test completion.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on vibration/shock test lab equipment.
  • Document equipment settings, fixture configurations, and vibration test conditions.

Authority &Technical Support

  • Accepts incoming vibration test samples.
  • Operates forklift.
  • Operates machine tools.
  • Vibration/shock equipment limitations.
  • Stop testing whenever unsafe conditions, vibration equipment malfunctions, or nonconforming conditions exist.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Exp
  • Minimum of High School Diploma
  • Experience with vibration Controller software
  • Experience working in a laboratory, manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, medical device, or testing environment is preferred.
  • Interprets technical vibration/shock specifications to accurately understand performance requirements.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Dynamics Training Courses
  • Electrical Training Courses, preferred
  • Forklift certification
  • Microsoft Office suite

Work Conditions/Physical Demands:

General lab/workshop environment includes sitting, standing, and walking; infrequent lifting of up to 50 lbs., pulling, pushing, carrying, reaching, bending, twisting, climbing, squatting, and crouching. Work is completed in a lab environment that contains toxic materials with possible exposure to odors, acids, fumes, and other reactive materials.
