Job Description
Schedule:
Monday through Friday 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM
$3 shift diferential applied in addition to hourly rate for all worked hours after 3:30 pm.

Position Summary
The Industrial Wet Coating Technician at QES is a skilled production role responsible for preparing, coating, and finishing metal components used in industrial power distribution equipment. Working independently and alongside production teams, the technician applies industrial wet coatings while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and efficiency. This role requires attention to detail, consistency in workmanship, and the ability to support team objectives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Wet Coating Technicians are expected to demonstrate strong knowledge of surface preparation, coating application techniques, equipment operation, and quality requirements while contributing to a positive, team-oriented culture.

Key Responsibilities
• Prepare metal surfaces through sanding, masking, cleaning, and material handling to ensure proper coating adhesion.
• Apply industrial wet coatings using HVLP, conventional, air-assisted, or airless spray equipment.
• Verify coating quality by monitoring coverage, finish consistency, and required film thickness specifications.
• Set up and maintain spray booths, paint equipment, hoses, pumps, and materials for daily production activities.
• Participate in daily team huddles and support production goals, scheduling priorities, and shift expectations.
• Use wet film gauges, viscosity cups, and other inspection tools to verify coating requirements.
• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of spray equipment and work areas.
• Maintain organized and clean workspaces by following 5S and housekeeping standards.
• Follow all PPE requirements, hazardous material handling procedures, and environmental safety protocols.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and communicate equipment or process concerns to supervision.
• Assist with training and supporting less experienced team members when needed.

Qualifications
• Previous experience in industrial painting, automotive painting, manufacturing, or related coating applications preferred.
• Familiarity with spray equipment, coating materials, and surface preparation methods.
• Ability to safely work with coatings, solvents, and cleaning chemicals (PPE provided).
• Must be able to pass a respirator fit test.
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and communication skills.
• Ability to follow work instructions, production schedules, and quality requirements.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for extended periods, and performing repetitive tasks.
