Job Summary
The Cast Lead is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, setup, and troubleshooting of casting equipment while supporting production goals, quality standards, and workplace safety. The Cast Lead works closely with supervisors and support departments to promote continuous improvement, operational excellence, and a safe work environment.
Responsibilities
• Operate casting equipment in a safe manner at all times
• Monitor equipment in your area of responsibility for adverse conditions and advise supervision and or support departments of these conditions
• Set-up casters for high productivity levels within your area of responsibility to include Trim Dies
• Perform all duties that a molder performs
• Change and prep fill tubes
• Change molds
• Train Molders on safety and operation of casting machine
• Troubleshoot and report problems
• Regularly scheduled follow up training and competency evaluation will take place annually and be included with an employee’s annual evaluation summary and maintained by HR in the employee records.
• Required to follow any other instructions and to perform any other duties upon request of the supervisor
• When necessary, participate in classes and training seminars to learn new technologies and techniques deemed helpful to performance on the job
• Lead a small team of molders
• Responsible for leading, coordinating, and monitoring the work of others who perform the same type of work as this job. Lead responsibilities typically include training, checking the work of others and ensuring supplies and materials are available.
• Other duties as assigned
Academic Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Valid fork truck and / or crane license, will train on the job
• 1-2 years of experience in casting department
Required Skills & Experience
• Team player, good listening skills verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to deal with multiple levels of people effectively, in group and individual settings
• Basic computer literacy
• Basic math and business writing skills
• Demonstrated ability to develop project plans and manage projects to successful completion
• Ability to learn new programs, activities and tasks
• Good oral/written communications and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational, planning and documentation skills
• Works in a fast-paced environment under minimum supervision. Routine responsibilities and duties involve the use of various procedures and the application of clearly prescribed standards of practice, requiring the use of good judgment. Must work with a high degree of accuracy.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• The job works in conditions with frequent exposure to loud noise, heavy lifting, heavy overhead lifting, heavy machinery and sharp tools.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Standing 70% -80% of the time; walking
• Bending, crouching, twisting and reaching required
• The person in this environment with multiple priorities. There is no travel required to fulfill this position.

• Complies with the following OSHA Safety Standards: Hazard Communication; Bloodborne Pathogens; Lockout; Permit Required Confined Space; Hot Work Permit; Powered Industrial Trucks; P.P.E. and Ergonomics
