Job Description
Location: Onsite in Addison, TX
Job Summary:
The VP of Operations will be responsible for the efficient management and leadership of Firehawk’s production and test sites in Lawton, OK; Chico, TX; Midland, TX; and a future consolidated facility south of Austin. This person will oversee all aspects of site operations, including production, process optimization, and compliance, ensuring that each facility meets Firehawk’s standards for quality and performance. The VP of Operations will report directly to the CEO and will work closely with other senior leaders to support the company’s growth and mission-critical programs.
Key Responsibilities:
•Lead and manage day-to-day operations across multiple sites, ensuring efficient production, safety, and compliance with all relevant regulations.
•Build and develop high-performing teams, including hiring, training, and mentoring site leadership and staff.
•Oversee production planning, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet program and customer requirements.
•Drive continuous improvement initiatives in manufacturing processes, quality assurance, and operational efficiency.
•Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and special projects teams to support new facility stand-up, technology transfer, and program launches.
•Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, particularly those related to energetic production.
•Develop and implement operational strategies to support scaling and consolidation of facilities.
•Monitor and report on operational performance, risks, and opportunities to executive leadership.
•Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and mission assurance across all sites.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
•Minimum 10 years of experience in operations leadership within energetics, aerospace, or high-reliability manufacturing environments.
•Proven track record of managing multiple production sites and scaling operations in a fast-paced, high-consequence industry.
•Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and regulatory compliance for energetic production.
•Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
•Experience hiring, developing, and mentoring operational teams.
•Ability to work onsite in Austin or Dallas, with regular travel to other Firehawk facilities as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Experience with facility stand-up, consolidation, and operational transitions.
•Familiarity with government and defense industry standards and requirements.
•Demonstrated success in process optimization and continuous improvement.
ITAR Requirements:
To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require minimal walking, standing for extended amounts of time, climbing, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
Security Clearance:
May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Requires U.S. Citizenship. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
