Organizational Development Specialist: Onboarding & Staff Development

We are seeking a dedicated professional to lead the design and facilitation of our comprehensive onboarding programs and continuing education initiatives. This role acts as a key internal consultant, ensuring that every staff member is supported through impactful learning opportunities and strategic engagement throughout the entire employee life cycle. By bridging the gap between initial orientation and ongoing professional growth, you will play a vital part in fostering a culture of excellence and long-term retention.

Job Summary

This role serves as a key internal consultant and institutional resource dedicated to enhancing organizational effectiveness, talent management, and the overall employee experience. The primary focus is to design, implement, facilitate, and evaluate comprehensive onboarding, leadership development, and culture-building programs that drive retention and engagement across all levels of the hospital staff.

  • Manager - ODL

Core Responsibilities

  • Program Design & Delivery: Develops, conducts, and revises hospital orientation and onboarding programs to ensure new hires understand organizational values and departmental operations.

  • Consultation & Strategy: Acts as an internal consultant on team building, conflict resolution, change management, and workforce development issues.

  • Talent & Leadership Development: Collaborates with leadership to align development plans with succession planning, performance management, and career advancement opportunities.

  • Educational Excellence: Employs adult learning principles to create and facilitate effective education through various modes, including virtual, live, and computer-based learning systems (LMS).

  • Needs Assessment & Analytics: Performs data-driven assessments to identify educational needs and organizational trends, tracking metrics to measure program effectiveness and ROI.

  • Collaborative Partnerships: Partners with Human Resources, clinical educators, and department heads to coordinate initiatives that support employees throughout their entire career cycle.

  • Compliance & Standards: Ensures educational activities meet regulatory requirements and professional practice standards.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Organizational Management, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Work Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in adult education or organizational development.

  • Preferred Background: Experience in a healthcare environment with a specific emphasis on onboarding, employee experience, and leadership development.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Expertise: Strong knowledge of adult learning theories and instructional design.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and experience managing Learning Management Systems (LMS).

  • Strategic Capability: Ability to manage complex projects independently and translate initiatives into measurable outcomes like improved retention and performance.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Proven ability to foster empowerment, provide coaching, and lead through influence.

  • Certifications: Familiarity with DiSC Profiles and Crucial Conversations is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Requires light lifting, pushing, and pulling (10–20 lbs) occasionally.

  • Frequent sitting, walking, standing, and repetitive keyboard/computer use.
