Position Overview:

The Communications Products Specialist (Junior) is a full-time position supporting a federal public health program focused on outreach, education, and stakeholder communications. In this role, you will contribute to the development and production of healthcare-related promotional materials, digital assets, and strategic communications content that advances critical public health objectives for a federal agency client. You will work alongside a multi-disciplinary team of program managers, clinical subject matter experts, and government stakeholders to produce accessible, clinically accurate, and audience-appropriate materials. Work products include educational toolkits, digital graphics, infographics, executive briefing support materials, and campaign content. Unlike traditional entry-level roles, this position offers immediate responsibility in a mission-critical federal health care environment. Candidates who demonstrate strong performance and initiative will be considered for expanded responsibilities and long-term engagement.

Please note: This position is contingent upon award (July/August)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop healthcare-related promotional and educational materials including fact sheets, flyers, toolkits, and campaign content for both internal agency and external audiences.

  • Draft audience-centered messaging in partnership with clinical and subject matter experts to ensure accuracy, cultural responsiveness, and alignment with plain-language and health literacy guidelines.

  • Create digital assets including graphics, infographics, and data visualizations for use in program reports, dashboards, presentations, and stakeholder communications.

  • Design and maintain a production schedule for all communications materials; track deliverable timelines and coordinate internal reviews against the content calendar.

  • Ensure all materials adhere to federal agency branding standards and Section 508 accessibility requirements; produce final deliverable files in both editable and PDF formats.

  • Support the development and maintenance of a Strategic Communications and Engagement Plan and Content Calendar across multiple program workstreams.

  • Coordinate communications across program offices to ensure consistent messaging on objectives, progress, and outcomes.

  • Assist with preparation of executive briefing packages and monthly leadership progress reports for senior government stakeholders.

  • Maintain version control over communication artifacts, branding asset libraries, and compliance documentation in accordance with federal information security and data handling requirements.

  • Handle sensitive program information with discretion and in compliance with applicable federal agency data governance requirements.

Working Conditions and Location:

  • This is a fully remote position supporting a federal health care program. Contractor work is performed at contractor facility.

  • Standard business hours with availability expected during core Eastern Time business hours.

  • Hybrid coordination with government counterparts and cross-functional federal stakeholders; occasional travel may be required.

  • Fast-paced, mission-driven environment supporting high-visibility federal public health programs.

  • May require handling of sensitive and controlled program data in accordance with federal agency and applicable regulatory requirements.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree (completed or in progress) in Communications, Public Health, Marketing, Graphic Design, English, or a closely related field.

  • U.S. citizenship and ability to handle sensitive government information in accordance with applicable federal requirements.

  • Demonstrated ability to write clearly and professionally for diverse audiences with attention to health literacy and plain-language standards.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and comfort working in collaborative platforms such as Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deliverables and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a hybrid remote team across multiple stakeholder groups.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience or coursework in public health communications, health literacy, or federal/military-focused outreach.

  • Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility standards and federal communications or branding requirements.

  • Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva for Enterprise) or data visualization platforms.

  • Experience producing digital assets, infographics, or visual communications for healthcare, nonprofit, or government clients.

  • Familiarity with content calendars, editorial workflows, or communications production schedules.

  • Experience supporting or working within a federal health agency or VA/DoD environment.
