Senior Researcher, Healthcare Transformation

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Researcher, Healthcare Transformation based in the United States.

This role sits at the forefront of applied health services research aimed at improving how care is delivered, financed, and evaluated across complex healthcare systems. You will lead end-to-end research initiatives that generate actionable evidence for federal and state stakeholders, helping shape policies that directly impact access, quality, and cost of care. The position combines rigorous methodological work with high-impact client engagement, requiring both analytical depth and strategic thinking. You will design studies, oversee data collection and analysis, and translate findings into clear, decision-ready insights for policymakers and partners. Working within multidisciplinary teams of economists, clinicians, data scientists, and policy experts, you will contribute to shaping evidence-based healthcare transformation. This is a highly collaborative, mission-driven environment where research is directly applied to real-world systems change. The role also includes responsibility for managing projects, guiding teams, and contributing to business development efforts.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead and manage applied research projects end to end, including roles such as principal investigator, project director, or task lead, ensuring timely, high-quality delivery within scope and budget
  • Design rigorous studies by defining research questions, methodologies, and analytic frameworks aligned with client and policy needs
  • Oversee project teams, coordinate staffing plans, and manage day-to-day execution of research and technical assistance activities
  • Lead data collection efforts, including the development of qualitative and quantitative tools such as surveys, interview protocols, and focus group guides
  • Conduct or supervise advanced data analysis using appropriate qualitative and quantitative methods and tools (e.g., NVivo, Stata, R, Python)
  • Prepare and communicate findings through reports, briefs, presentations, and visualizations tailored to diverse stakeholders
  • Lead proposal development and contribute to business development efforts across federal, state, and foundation clients
  • Manage client relationships and represent research findings in stakeholder engagements and policy discussions
Requirements:
  • PhD with 3+ years of relevant experience or Master’s degree with 7+ years in health services research, economics, public policy, or a related field
  • Strong experience in applied research, evaluation, or technical assistance within healthcare or public policy environments
  • Demonstrated ability to design and execute qualitative and/or quantitative research studies using appropriate methodologies and tools
  • Experience analyzing complex datasets, including claims or large administrative datasets
  • Proficiency with research and analysis tools such as NVivo, Stata, R, or Python
  • Proven experience managing projects, coordinating teams, and delivering high-quality research outputs under deadlines
  • Strong client management, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to translate technical findings into actionable insights
  • Experience supporting proposal writing, grant development, or other business development activities
  • Subject matter expertise in Medicare, Medicaid, or Marketplace policy and financing strongly preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to thrive in a collaborative, remote work environment
Benefits:
  • Annual salary range of $126,000–$154,000 USD depending on experience and location
