Mortgage Loan Closer
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Mortgage Loan Closer to join our mortgage lending team. The Mortgage Loan Closer will be responsible for managing an assigned pipeline of mortgage loans from clear-to-close through funding. This position works closely with processors, underwriters, loan officers, closing attorneys, and borrowers to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely closings.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and has a strong understanding of mortgage closing documentation, TRID requirements, and closing timelines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage an assigned pipeline of residential mortgage loans through the closing process.
- Prepare, review, and issue Closing Disclosures (CDs) in compliance with TRID requirements.
- Coordinate closing timelines with processors, loan officers, attorneys, and borrowers.
- Review loan files to ensure all conditions and documentation are complete prior to closing.
- Generate and deliver closing packages and closing instructions.
- Balance closing figures and review settlement statements for accuracy.
- Communicate funding requirements and coordinate with internal departments to ensure timely loan funding.
- Resolve closing issues and discrepancies while maintaining service level expectations.
- Ensure all loan documents meet investor, agency, regulatory, and company requirements.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation throughout the closing process.
- Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Assist with post-closing corrections and document requests as needed.
- Stay current on regulatory changes, lending guidelines, and company policies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of mortgage closing experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, and portfolio mortgage products preferred.
- Strong understanding of TRID regulations, Closing Disclosures, and mortgage closing documentation.
- Experience with mortgage loan origination systems and document preparation software.
- Ability to manage multiple files and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working directly with closing attorneys and title companies.
- Knowledge of secondary market and investor requirements.
- Familiarity with electronic closing platforms and digital mortgage processes.
- Experience using mortgage systems such as Encompass or similar LOS platforms.
