Position Overview:
The M365 Administrator I works with the Infrastructure and Cyber Security teams to administer and continuously improve the company’s Microsoft 365 environment. This role is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and administering a global deployment of Microsoft 365 solutions used by over 1,200 end users for messaging, collaboration, and personal productivity. The ideal candidate will possess foundational experience with Microsoft 365 services, strong technical aptitude, a desire to learn and grow, and the ability to create and improve standards, processes, and documentation in an enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Microsoft 365 Administration
- Provide day-to-day administration of the Microsoft 365 global environment, taking responsibility for configuration, settings, and changes to support ongoing business operations.
- Provide day-to-day end user support for the Microsoft 365 global environment, responding to end user tickets and requests.
- Troubleshoot and analyze problems to determine root cause, and provide a high level of end user support.
- Assist with investigation and evaluation of new features and options within the platform, including productivity and AI-driven enhancements, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Use PowerShell and other automation tools to streamline deployment, management, and administration.
- Assist in developing and maintaining technical documentation, architectural diagrams, and runbooks.
Performance Optimization & Monitoring
- Proactively monitor the M365 environment for usage and performance; identify and resolve issues.
- Proactively propose changes and improvements to the platform to enhance performance and efficiency.
- Monitor the environment for security issues and gaps in collaboration with the Cyber Security team.
- Monitor and manage M365 licenses; provide input on cost optimization and resource allocation.
Solution Architecture & Design
- Contribute to the design, enhancement, and standardization of Microsoft 365 solutions, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Intune, and related services.
- Participate in architecture and design discussions alongside Infrastructure team members and leadership to support scalable, secure, and well-governed solutions.
- Support project initiatives such as tenant improvements, data migrations, integrations, and platform modernization efforts.
Governance, Security, & Compliance
- Contribute to Microsoft 365 governance initiatives, ensuring configurations align with organizational standards for security, compliance, and operational consistency.
- Assist with identity and access management activities within Microsoft Entra ID, including user lifecycle management, role assignments, and access reviews.
- Support the administration of security controls such as MFA, Conditional Access policies, endpoint compliance, and basic security monitoring.
- Participate in compliance-related activities involving data protection, retention, and regulatory requirements, following established policies and procedures.
Expected Skills and Qualifications:
- 0–3 years of experience in Information Technology or a related end user support role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Hands-on experience supporting or administering Microsoft 365 services such as Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, or Intune.
- Understanding of Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), user accounts, and group management.
- Familiarity with Windows endpoints and modern workplace concepts.
- Familiarity with PowerShell scripting and automation.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- Fast learner; ability to quickly pick up new technologies and techniques.
- Familiarity with the Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate) is a plus.
- Familiarity with Azure tenants and Azure platform administration is a plus.
Work Schedule / Location:
- Hybrid role based in Schaumburg, IL
- Onsite three (3) days per week and remote two (2) days per week
Pre-Employment Requirement:
Employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of a drug screen and background check. This requirement is especially critical for safety-sensitive roles.
The annual base salary range for this position is $70,000 - $85,000. The actual pay will be determined based on factors such as location, experience, skills, and qualifications. In addition to the base salary, employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package.
