Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The role of the General Manager (GM) for Feeding Palm Beach County is to oversee and serve as the primary point of contact for all aspects of Feeding Palm Beach County (FPBC). This role will report to the Chief of Staff.
The GM will not have direct supervision over FPBC personnel but will have authority to enforce behaviors and outcomes impacting the facility to include coaching and counseling. The GM will be responsible for facilitating smooth operations among FPBC functions to be accomplished by working collaboratively with direct departmental leadership, guiding decision-making to meet organizational goals. Additionally, the GM will perform as the primary point of contact for FPBC related issues and challenges.
COMPENSATION: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Site Leadership & Representation
- Coordinate with Feeding South Florida (FSF) leadership to ensure FPBC operations align with organizational mission, values, and strategic priorities.
- Function as the primary FPBC representative to FSF leadership for general facility performance and issues.
Operational Oversight & Coordination
- Serve as unifier of the FPBC team to increase productivity and impact; execute on the strategic plan to ensure all business functions are efficient and effective; ensure the objectives align with long-term goals; be a stakeholder in the timely completion of important projects.
- Provide site-level coordination across warehouse operations, kitchen production, and catering functions to ensure cohesive facility performance, without superseding departmental leadership authority.
- Identify and escalate operational interdependencies, resource conflicts, or facility-wide issues that require cross-functional resolution.
- Serve as the primary point of escalation for facility-level challenges that fall outside the scope of individual department directors.
- Monitor overall facility performance metrics and communicate site-wide results to FSF leadership.
Facility Management
- Oversee building operations, maintenance, safety compliance, and capital improvement needs for the FPBC facility.
- Manage vendor relationships and service contracts specific to the facility.
- Ensure FPBC maintains compliance with all applicable regulatory, food safety, and workplace safety requirements.
Communication & Collaboration
- Serve as the primary internal communication hub between FPBC departments and FSF corporate leadership.
- Facilitate regular site-wide meetings to promote cross-departmental awareness and coordination.
- Provide regular reporting to FSF leadership on facility operations, community impact, and strategic initiatives.
Strategic Planning & Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to FSF-wide strategic planning by providing FPBC-specific insight on capacity, community need, and operational opportunities.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement and organizational values at the facility level.
- Support change management initiatives and ensure FSF-wide programs are effectively implemented at FPBC.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Management, or a related field.
- Progressive career with a minimum of three years of experience in a senior management role, as General Manager or as Chief of Staff with a proven track record of success in a similar capacity.
- Strong strategic thinking and critical thinking skills, with the ability to manage complex projects and initiatives.
- Proven ability to work with executive and senior leadership, board members, and key stakeholders.
- Ability to anticipate organizational issues and quickly develop appropriate resolutions.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Proficient in MS Suite and project management software.
- Have a strong sense of urgency and a high level of accountability.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS
- Hours of Operation: Although organization hours are Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., this position will work closer to 45-50 hours per week, especially during peak times such as holiday seasons, growing seasons, and disaster response. After-hours business work is required to cover social media channels appropriately throughout the year.
- Environment: This position works in an office setting with varying periods of standing, talking, and/or visual concentration, and use of office equipment. Must maintain office safety standards. Occasional work will occur in the warehouse or outside in fields and warehouses in inclement weather. The noise in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- Travel: FSF serves four counties so there is often same-day travel between the counties, using a personal vehicle, and occasional out-of-town travel for meetings, conferences, or special events.
- OSHA Standards: Lifting requirements are 50 pounds and when lifting loads heavier than 50 pounds, use two or more people to lift the load.
