About This Position
Wulfenstein Construction Co., a division of Pavement Recycling Systems, Inc. is a 100% Employee Owned (ESOP) company that services projects of all sizes and scopes including commercial, industrial and public or private sector with superior materials, top-notch equipment and outstanding operators. Our services include Aggregate Productions, Asphalt Paving, installation and repair of Underground Utilities and site preparation with Subdivision Improvements.
We own, operate, and maintain our own fleet of trucks, earth movers, crushing asphalt and paving equipment.
Position Overview
The General Superintendent is responsible for ensuring high quality work on all projects, communicating goals and directions effectively to the crews, and paving superintendents/foremen while pro-actively identifying problem areas on jobs to overcome obstacles and provide quality control.
Primary Responsibilities
- Leads and manages foremen and crews in asphalt paving productivity and quality via proper planning, training, and goal setting
- Directs multiple asphalt paving projects to successful completion through effective management and team collaboration
- Understands and schedules, working within a budget, reviews/monitors projects compared to budget
- Oversees daily field operations ensuring compliance of project specifications and while meeting and exceeding paving production goals
- Maintains high standards and delivering the highest level of asphalt quality on all projects
- Proactively identifies potential problem areas early in the process and develops strategies to overcome obstacles
- Ensures superintendents/foremen and their crews have a clear understanding of their duties and responsibilities, provides accurate information and direction as well as necessary tools, materials, and equipment to perform their jobs
- Maintains progress information, including labor and material cost data
- Provides quality control/assurance support on individual work and subcontractor’s work
- Works to communicate and achieve common goals, spends time daily developing, and mentoring others
- Attends preconstruction and weekly construction meetings
- Coordinates and tracks material deliveries, trucking, equipment, and manpower
- Creates daily paving schedule to include type/quantities of material, project specifications, trucking start time and location, crew, and equipment
- Surveys asphalt and sub-grade material to manage quality-control of the project
- Performs any other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, ability to draft clear and effective letters/emails
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to deal with difficult and possible aggressive deadlines and customers to produce positive results
- Displays a high level of organization and prioritization for tasks at hand
- Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team-oriented environment
- Maintain a tactful, mature, and professional demeanor with well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with diverse personnel
- Ability to manage multiple projects to ensure the proper training and quality is delivered to customers
- Valid Driver License and clean MVR
- Bi-lingual is a plus but not required
- Able to work in outdoor setting under various weather conditions
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, construction science or related field or equivalent work experience
- 10+ years of field experience in the asphalt paving industry
- 10+ years of experience in earthwork and grading
- Minimum of 5 years at a management level in the Construction Industry

- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- The stamina and ability to visit PRS work sites, offices and provide multiple-hour or day long training sessions.
