About This Position
RN - Emergency Dept.
Job Summary:
Provides professional nursing assessment and initiates nursing care to clients presented to the Emergency Department. Determines the urgency of the patient’s complaints and determines triage category. Serves as a patient advocate facilitating communication between the patient/family/significant other and the emergency care system. Provides health educational needs for patients/family/significant others; manages patient care assignments; acts in a clinical leadership role; demonstrates professional/clinical competency; assists with patient care of all ages; assists in Cardiac Stress lab and performs other related duties as needed or required.
Education and Experience:
Diploma, Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in nursing; valid and current license with the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation; current CPR, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NRP and ECRN preferred and required after one year of employment; one year of acute care nursing experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Basic computer skills; good interpersonal communication skills; ability to work independently; ability to use proper body mechanics when lifting, pushing and pulling; motor coordination to work with equipment; ability to understand oral/written instructions; understanding of medical terminology.
