Salary: $65,000

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Specialized knowledge and/or experience in the subject area.
  • Instruct a formalized grammar program appropriate to the grade level taught
  • Introduce phonics/comprehension-based reading program using spelling and comprehension
  • Introduce research and exposition skills
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with the Master Teacher, students, and parents.
  • Ability to speak English fluently and use English in a grammatically correct fashion.
  • Ability to remain flexible and to respond to schedule changes or unexpected task assignments with a calm demeanor.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to impart knowledge to students and information to parents and staff.

Experience/Education

Bachelor of Arts degree and 1 year teaching experience preferred, but not required

Working Conditions/Hours

Work is generally performed in a classroom setting with periodic field trips to various locations. Some assigned duties may be performed in inclement weather.

This position may be full or part-time. Hours will discussed during interview.

Physical Requirements

Constant movement around the classroom is necessary to maintain close contact to students and to respond to their needs. In addition, bending and lifting is necessary to set up classrooms, to gather supplies, perform duties, and to assist children, as necessary. It is essential teachers develop a warmth and friendliness with students and parents.
