About Beacon Kalamazoo
Beacon Kalamazoo provides 24/7 emergency care and a Level II Trauma Center. We deliver care for serious life-threatening injuries/illnesses, and your everyday health needs, including labor and delivery. We offer specialty care for heart/vascular disease, lung and sleep disorders, mental health conditions, and women’s health. We offer a wide range of outpatient services, including diagnostic imaging, lab tests, respiratory therapy and rehabilitation therapy services.​

What You’ll Do

As a Pharmacy Technician, you’ll provide distributive pharmacy services and technical support for the Pharmacist prior to receiving certification.

Pharmacy Technician Job Responsibilities

• Refills and maintains automated dispensing systems.

• Prepares orders and maintains inventory for the Pharmacy department.

• Prepares sterile and non-sterile compounds.

• Repackages bulk medications.

• Receives and stores incoming supplies.

• Triages incoming calls and serves as a liaison between pharmacy, patient and health professionals by providing information.

• You bring a high level of knowledge and competency in performing pharmacy procedures, assessments, treatment, and techniques.

• Advanced analytical skills are necessary to solve complex problems and make decisions related to patient care.

• You demonstrate the interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, patients, visitors, physicians and others.

• You demonstrate the ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner.

• You have an understanding of the need to be responsive and reasonably adaptable for scheduling purposes, when necessary, due to extenuating circumstances in support of co-workers and department functions.

Required Qualifications

• Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Michigan Board of Pharmacy obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's

degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
