Overview

The Tool / Parts Crib Intern assists the Maintenance Department with organizing, identifying, and tracking maintenance tools and parts within the tool crib and inventory system. This position works closely with the Maintenance Planner to support the receiving, storage, and inventory management of maintenance materials to ensure parts are properly cataloged and readily available for maintenance operations.

This internship provides hands-on exposure to maintenance inventory management, manufacturing operations, and computerized inventory systems within an industrial environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Works directly with the Maintenance Planner to organize, label, and maintain parts and tools within the tool crib.

· Assists with receiving, unpacking, and storing incoming parts delivered to the maintenance or shipping area.

· Sorts and organizes existing parts and ensures all items are clearly labeled and easy to locate.

· Assists with identifying unknown or unlabeled parts on existing shelves.

· Enters part numbers and inventory information into the PLEX inventory management system.

· Helps maintain accurate inventory records for maintenance tools and parts.

· Supports the maintenance team by locating parts quickly during equipment repairs or breakdowns.

· Prepares and submits weekly reports detailing parts identified, organized, and entered into the inventory system.

· Maintains cleanliness and organization of the tool crib and surrounding storage areas.

· Ensures tools and materials are stored safely and properly.

· Follows all Mid-West Forge safety policies and procedures.

· Wears all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while working in the facility.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience

· Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Manufacturing Technology, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.

· Basic knowledge of tools, mechanical parts, or manufacturing environments is helpful but not required.

· Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills required.

· Industrial maintenance inventory management

· Identification and classification of maintenance parts and tools

· Using PLEX ERP system for inventory tracking

· Manufacturing maintenance operations and workflow

· Inventory organization and stockroom management

· Workplace safety practices in a manufacturing environment

· Professional communication and reporting within a maintenance team

Key Competencies

Communication Skills

Ability to communicate effectively with maintenance personnel regarding part identification and location.

Ability to provide weekly updates and inventory reports.

Organizational Skills

Strong attention to detail when labeling and organizing parts.

Ability to maintain a clean and organized tool crib environment.

Computer Skills

Ability to learn and use PLEX inventory software.

Basic computer and data entry skills.

Physical Demands

· Stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout maintenance and storage areas.

· Lift and carry parts or materials up to 25 lbs when necessary.

· Navigate maintenance areas that may include machinery and equipment.

Work Environment

The Tool / Parts Crib Intern works within the Mid-West Forge manufacturing facility and maintenance areas. The environment may include exposure to industrial equipment, high noise levels, vibration, and active material transportation areas. All safety procedures and PPE requirements must be followed at all times.
