POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Fits together parts and subassemblies to operate, repair, and maintain heavy equipment, mechanical equipment, tracked vehicles, automotive vehicles, vans, cranes, forklifts, transporters, etc. Determines parts, tolerances, electromechanical interfaces from blueprints, technical books and specification sheets. Work requires practical application of technical knowledge or mechanical principles, ability to determine malfunctions and skill to put equipment in required operating condition.

Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems that typically cannot be solved by reference to manufacturer's manuals or similar documents in working on various equipment. Work may be reviewed by supervisor for general compliance with accepted practices. May provide technical guidance to lower level technicians. May be assigned other duties within his or her capabilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Qualification requirements include demonstration of satisfactory skill and good performance with three years of progressive experience in the specific field in addition to graduation from a two-year technical program at an accredited institution, or a total of six years progressive experience in the specific field. Must possess a valid driver’s license with a CDL class A with no restriction endorsement. Applicant selected may be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Work will include cross-utilization into other jobs as required. May require some overtime and weekend work.
