About This Position
Surg Scrub Tech (PRN Level I) Labor/Delivery
SUMMARY: Neonatal ICU, Mother-Baby, Labor & Delivery, Lactation, and Perinatal Education departments, With 150-200 deliveries a month, two ORs for cesarean sections, and an average daily census of eight NICU babies, our units are busy, fast-paced, and offer the opportunity to provide specialty and critical care in a collaborative and supportive environment.Our hospital has earned the Advanced Certification in Perinatal Care from The Joint Commission, setting us apart in the community as a leader in maternal and neonatal care. We work closely with Childrens Mercy neonatology specialists who staff our NICU and delivery team 24/7, as well as respiratory care and other specialists, to provide the best possible outcomes. Our culture values each team members expertise and input, creating a positive, patient-centered experience for our families. SUMMARY: Under the direction of the nurse director, functions in a support role to the nursing staff by assuring that supplies and equipment are stocked, readily available and working properly, instruments are correctly sterilized and delivery carts and warmers are set up for deliveries. Performs surgical scrub duties in the OR area according to standards and policies. Assists the staff nurse in care of the patient through data collection and provision of basic care as directed. Maintains a neat and orderly department and supply area.
EXPERIENCE: Experience as a CNA or a medical assistant or one year in the OR setting. Surgical scrub experience or formal training.
SPECIAL SKILLS: Knowledge of sterility concepts. Organization skills to perform multiple tasks.
OTHER: Basic computer skills, completion of maternity care rotation in nursing program preferred.
LICENSE/CERT: Required: BLS (Basic Life Support) from AHA (American Heart Association)
EDUCATION: Required: High School or Equivalent
