About This Position

ESI is seeking a Technical Writer/Standard Operating Procedure Writer: job description typically involves analyzing and documenting business processes, identifying areas for improvement, and recommending solutions to enhance efficiency and productivity, often combining the expertise of systems experts, policy experts, so physical procedures that must be carried out are sensible, achievable, and repeatable.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES:
Analyze & Document Business Processes: - Understand how a business operates, including its processes, data, and technology.
• Identify areas where processes are inefficient or ineffective.- Evaluate the impact of changes and potential solutions.
• Provide documentation for as-is and to-be processes in an understandable format for both technical resources and the trainers of end-users - Gather and Analyze Information:
• Conduct personal research using functional design documents, existing procedure documents, policy manuals, policy memos, user guides, past training documents, and interviews with staff - Meet with end-users, policy experts, and conduct field research to understand business procedures, document as-is procedures, and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Use flowcharts, memos, FAQs, job aids, or user guides as appropriate to communicate findings.
• Develop Documents:-Document as-is business processes including system actions and physical user actions (e.g. moving paper from one box to another; calculations done outside the system; decision criteria for choosing actions in a system; references outside the system)
• Highlight and inventory gaps in current process- Create to-be standard operating procedures for end-users which account for upcoming system changes • Communicate and Collaborate:
Become an expert in the relevant as-is processes; communicate as-is processes to stakeholders, including management, IT teams, and other business units. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that documents are widely accepted and formal approval for all to-be documents is attained • Project Management:
Develop project plans (timelines) for each work product, monitor and report on individual progress, and ensure timely completion of assignments.
• Other Duties: -Provide technical support to business users. • Ensure that system updates fit in the full ecosystem of policy compliant end-user procedures • Understand business and policy constraints. • Assess the implications of system changes as they relate to the actions that end-users must take.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Self-motivated and ready to learn. MEDICAID EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• Analytical skills, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to isolate the most important/relevant facts for a wide range of audiences • Understanding of business processes and IT systems.
• Ability to write in a way that is easily understandable to front-line staff, technical staff, and leadership
• Able to creatively develop a wide array of documentation from flowcharts, FAQs, end-user guides, leadership updates, standard operating procedures, job aids, and light document-supporting graphics
