Job Summary

The Server is responsible for providing attentive, professional, and timely food and beverage service to members and guests of the Club. This front-line position plays a key role in creating exceptional dining experiences by anticipating needs, ensuring order accuracy, and maintaining high service standards. The Server collaborates closely with the kitchen and front-of-house teams to support a smooth, efficient, and welcoming dining environment in line with the Club’s values and expectations.

Essential Functions

Dining Room/Banquet Operations:

  • Greet guests and members in a friendly, professional manner and provide attentive service throughout their visit
  • Ensure proper table maintenance, including clearing plates, refilling beverages, and resetting between courses
  • Present menus, describe specials, and answer member questions about menu items and ingredients
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of service areas, including side stations, server trays, and silverware
  • Assist with opening and closing duties, including setup, breakdown, and completing assigned side work
  • Set up banquet rooms and formal dining areas according to club standards and event specifications, including linens, tableware, and seating arrangements
  • Support post-event cleanup and reorganization of banquet and dining spaces
  • Monitor guest needs during events, such as replenishing buffet items or refreshing beverages
  • Maintain awareness of event timelines and coordinate service pace

Guest Service & Communication:

  • Create a warm, welcoming atmosphere through courteous, professional service
  • Anticipate and respond to member needs promptly and with attention to detail
  • Communicate effectively with team members and management to ensure smooth service flow
  • Maintain knowledge of all menu items, ingredients, and service protocols

Team Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with kitchen, banquet, pool side, and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth, coordinated service
  • Participate in team meetings and briefings to stay informed about service expectations and club events
  • Support fellow team members during peak times or when additional help is needed
Requirements:

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during service
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and balance trays and supplies up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to safely carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs. for up to distance of 50 yards.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, and crouching required
  • Must be able to lift overhead and push/pull lighter items as needed
  • Ability to swim is required for this position due to poolside service responsibilities.

Qualifications & Certifications

  • Prior experience in restaurant or club food service strongly preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Positive attitude, team spirit, and strong communication skills
  • Valid California Food Handler and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certifications required
  • Must be available to workdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
