Electrical Engineer
Position Summary:
This position requires the ability to design machine panels for all Scot Forge machinery, including both new and retrofitted capital equipment (up to $100M), and ancillary plant equipment. Additionally, this role includes the responsibility of creating and updating plant power distribution layouts for three facilities, varying from 100,000 to 350,000+ sq. ft. each.

Essential Position Responsibilities:
- Actively supports and participates in efforts to establish and promote a safe and healthy work environment. Follow policies, programs, and procedures for the reduction and elimination of industrial accidents and provide quality feedback to promote safer work behaviors and conditions.
- Electrical design
- Define scope for new (blank sheet) and retrofit projects
- Determine fit, form, function and specification of electrical equipment to meet manufacturing requirements (presses, furnaces, heat treat equipment, machine tools, etc.)
- Research and development for new equipment, components and technologies
- Electrical circuit design and schematic creation
- Electrical and panel layout for machinery
- Selection of electrical components for machinery needs (e.g. electrical panels, motor control centers, motors, HMIs, drives, controllers, instrumentation, sensors, etc.)
- Power distribution design
- Create and update plant electrical layouts and schematics
- Specify plant equipment and components
- Support and update Arc Flash studies
- Properly size components and design electrical systems for code compliance, safety and reliability by performing appropriate analysis (hand calculations & spreadsheets), validation and due diligence
- Quoting/procurement of electrical and combustion components and systems– budgeting/costing, ROI, specification, contract review, selection, negotiation, and purchasing
- Maintenance and operations continuous improvement support, including scoping, design, execution and validation
- Project management or interface with project managers: instruct outside contractors/vendors and internal team members for timely and cost-effective assembly of electrical systems
- Produce scope documentation for outsourcing and manage outsourced projects/resources
- Troubleshoot complex electrical systems
- Responsible for overseeing the startup of new and updated equipment
- Concurrent engineering with peers, other internal technical disciplines, technicians and vendors
- Mentor and train electrical technical team members
- Support production and technical team members during off-shift hours
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
- BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5 years experience with power distribution and machine electrical design
Desired Skills:
- Hands-on individual with excellent troubleshooting skills
- Exhibits a high level of electrical aptitude and creativity
- Strong negotiating skills
- Proficient in MS office
- Strong knowledge of NEC & NFPA codes and standards
- Excellent communication skills, organization skills, and detail oriented
- Must demonstrate ability to perform in a highly collaborative team environment while being self-directed
- Ability to work safely in a shop atmosphere
Additional Information:
- Scot Forge requires all employees to work 100% onsite.
- This position is primarily located in our Spring Grove, IL facility with occasional travel to plants in other locations as required (Franklin Park, IL and Clinton, WI).

- Must be authorized to work anywhere in the U.S. without sponsorship
- Must be able to pass a 90 day head hair drug test today.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Balance of office and shop setting. Must be able to physically see the product and discern its level of completion.
- During new equipment builds, equipment shutdowns, and troubleshooting equipment malfunctions individual is exposed to (approximately 30% of time):
- Elements such as extreme heat, extreme cold, dust, debris, fumes, and noise
- All forms of working conditions such as elevated work of every type and close quarters/confined space
- All forms of movement and physical demands such as heavy and light lifting, crawling, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling, etc.
- Safety hazards such as heights, uneven ground, confined space, noise, pressure vessels, high pressure hydraulics, suspended loads, heavy equipment, chemicals, cut hazards, asphyxiation, CO2, aldehydes, silica, aluminum oxides, electrical shock and burns from hot product, combustion and electrical hazards. Exposed to electrical hazards up to 4160 volts.
- PPE requirements above typical shop floor requirements include harnesses and arc flash gear.

The estimated pay range for this position is the lowest and highest range we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We ultimately may pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. The actual base pay offered to a candidate will depend on various factors including but not limited to relevant skills, experience, qualifications, education, certifications, seniority, geographic location and prevailing minimum wage, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs.
