Job Description
A Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive primary and preventive healthcare services . Utilizes skills in providing diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic health problems along with providing care focused on health risk factor reduction. Ensures efficient and effective patient care through collaborative planning and problem - solving with center staff.

Education

Current Louisiana RN license.

Must possess a Master’s degree with a concentration in the respective advanced practice nursing specialty from an accredited college or university.

Must possess a certification by a nationally recognized certifying body. An RN holding a current, unencumbered, unrestricted, and valid license to practice professional nursing who was previously recognized by the LA State Board of Nursing as an advanced practitioner of nursing on or before December 31, 1995 (as per Act 633 of 1995) will substitute for certification by a nationally

Current CPR certification required.

Experience

At least one year of experience in advanced practice nursing.

Knowledge of scope of practice.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Stands, sits, and walks most of the day.

Reads gauges, digital read-outs, graphs and educational material, and patient charts in English (Visual acuity)

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force frequently including pushing and/or pulling.

Ability to move to exam rooms and workspaces.

Operates office and medical equipment.

OSHA Category I: Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue.

Potential exposure to chemical hazards.
