We currently have a career opportunity for a Full-time Senior Commercial Loan Processor to join our Loan Processing team at our Fort Atkinson location.
The Senior Commercial Loan Processor plays a critical role in managing both the processing and ongoing servicing of commercial loans. This position ensures accuracy and compliance across the full loan life cycle, from application review and documentation through post-closing activities and servicing. In addition to core responsibilities, the role provides subject matter expertise, supports audits and regulatory exams, assists with training and mentoring staff, and drives process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and consistency within the department.
Essential Duties, include, but are not limited to:
- The Senior Commercial Loan Processor is responsible for performing all core loan processing and servicing functions with a high degree of accuracy and independence, including:
- Review and process loan applications for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
- Collect and verify supporting documentation (financials, tax returns, collateral, entity documents, etc.).
- Coordinate with loan officers, borrowers, attorneys, and third parties to ensure timely receipt of required items.
- Prepare and review loan documentation packages, ensure accurate data entry, funding, and proper coding.
- Monitor and process payments, payoffs, renewals, escrow accounts, insurance, UCC filings, and post-closing requirements.
- Coordinate loan participations and sold loan servicing activities.
- Process modifications, extensions, renewals, and customer inquiries.
- Maintain loan files and records in compliance with audit and regulatory standards.
- Assist with reporting, audits, and regulatory exams.
In addition to these responsibilities, the Senior Commercial Loan Processor has elevated responsibilities that include:
- Serve as a subject matter expert for loan processing and servicing procedures, provide guidance, and answer questions from team members.
- Assist with training and onboarding of new staff and mentor existing colleagues.
- Support the VP/Director of Loan Processing with special projects, initiatives, and workflow/process redesigns.
- Proactively identify process improvement opportunities and lead documentation and standardization efforts.
- Partner with internal stakeholders (loan officers, credit, compliance, operations) to resolve issues and strengthen loan administration.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- 3–5 years of loan processing experience, with demonstrated expertise in commercial and consumer loan documentation and compliance.
- Mastery of loan processing and documentation functions, with proven accuracy, efficiency, and ability to work independently on complex files.
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn and adapt to new systems quickly.
- High level of proficiency in Loan Origination Systems (LOS) and document management platforms; ability to quickly adapt to new systems and support system transitions or enhancements.
- Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to analyze urgent situations and prioritize needs.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and support junior processors, acting as a resource and subject matter expert.
- Proven experience handling escalations and resolving complex issues independently.
- Positive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to influence team culture and support change initiatives (especially important for system implementations or process changes).
- Ability to identify gaps in processes or training and proactively recommend improvements.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to perform essential job functions.
- Current driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive while performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
What Will Set You Apart
- Involvement in LOS implementation or system conversion projects
- Experience with Hawthorn River LOS System and/or CSI NuPoint
- Familiarity with credit analysis principles
- Prior experience in a lead or senior processor role
