Position Overview:


The Facilities Maintenance Technician will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of the swim center and surrounding facilities. This role requires a hands-on, detail-oriented individual capable of handling both routine maintenance and urgent repairs. The technician will be expected to ensure the facilities remain safe, clean, and functional for all staff, visitors, and patrons.

This is a salaried, non-exempt position, offering consistent work hours with the added responsibility of ensuring the overall premises are maintained to high standards. Transportation will be provided via a company truck for necessary job-related travel.

Key Responsibilities:

Pool Maintenance:

Knowledge of commercial pool systems is a plus but not required

Assist in pool cleaning, maintenance of poolside equipment, and removal of debris.

General Facility Maintenance:

Conduct routine inspections of the swim center and surrounding grounds to identify and address any maintenance or safety issues.

Perform preventative maintenance tasks on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and lighting.

Repair or replace damaged equipment, fixtures, and furnishings in the facility.

Ensure that all safety equipment, including life-saving devices, is in proper working condition and regularly tested.

Cleaning and Upkeep:

Maintain cleanliness of common areas, locker rooms, bathrooms, and pool deck.

Ensure cleanliness standards are upheld throughout the facility.

Remove trash, debris, and maintain landscaping and exterior areas around the facility.

Safety & Compliance:

Ensure the facility adheres to all local safety and health regulations.

Keep records of maintenance tasks and safety inspections.

Respond promptly to emergency maintenance situations, including plumbing or electrical failures, leaks, and facility damage.

Administrative Duties:

Maintain maintenance logs for repairs and inspections.

Collaborate with management to develop schedules for regular maintenance and repairs.

Maintain inventory of tools, materials, and parts required for maintenance tasks.

Submit expense reports with proper documentation.

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical certifications or training in facilities maintenance, pool maintenance, or a related field is preferred.

Proven experience in facility maintenance, with a focus on pools, HVAC systems, plumbing, and/or electrical work.

Ability to operate and maintain basic tools and equipment related to building and pool maintenance.

Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve problems efficiently and effectively.

Good communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (transportation will be provided via company truck).

Ability to lift and move equipment, tools, and materials up to 50 lbs.

Ability to work in various weather conditions as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in pool operation, such as the Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO).

Experience with basic plumbing and electrical repairs.

Previous experience in a commercial or public swimming facility.

Familiarity with safety protocols and regulations related to pools.

Physical Demands:

Ability to stand, walk, climb, and move throughout the facility.

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Willingness to work in hot and humid environments (i.e., pools) for extended periods.

Work Schedule:

This position typically operates during regular business hours, but flexibility is required as the maintenance needs of the facility may necessitate occasional evening or weekend work. The Facilities Maintenance Technician will also be on call for emergency maintenance situations.
