Job Description
SUMMARY
This position is primarily responsible for overseeing staff and operations of the STEPS for Success program, ensuring the efficient delivery of services that meet client needs, funder deliverables and organizational goals. The position is responsible for seeing that expected results are achieved efficiently and effectively. This position serves as a point of contact for the STEPS for Success program to the community and the UACDC staff to address any concerns regarding the program or those performing the duties personally or through subordinates.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Core duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Manages, directs, and evaluates the overall operations, staff, and day-to-day activities of the STEPS for Success program.
- Ensures quality delivery of STEPS for Success program services necessary to meet funder and organizational goals.
- Responsible to recruit participants and establish a comprehensive outreach plan and schedule.
- Oversees the collection of all program data to evaluate program effectiveness, maintain organized records, and prepare data and funding reports for the STEPS for Success program.
- Coordinates with Director of Programs to ensure programming compliance is current through providing agreed upon services.
- Develops process and monitors operating budget, monitors spending and coding, and implements strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Supervises and monitors the performance of navigator staff, providing guidance, training and support. Organizes and facilitates ongoing education and training to enhance staff knowledge and meet funder requirements.
- Audits case management files and services provided to clients on a consistent basis to ensure standardized delivery of services and file accuracy.
- Leads the formulation of STEPS program protocol and policies and ensures they are followed.
- Assists with the identification and implementation of process improvement initiatives within the day-to-day workflow to refine operational efficiencies.
- Collaborates with INVEST Workforce Manager and team to ensure a successful client referral process is in place and being utilized between departments.
- Identifies and builds partnerships with relevant individuals and entities to improve STEPS for Success program services, delivery and referral pipeline while ensuring compliance with funding requirements.
- Communicates with other UACDC programs and departments to ensure that the calendar of programming, flyers, and website are created, kept current, and shared with the community.
- Works with partners and STEPS for Success program staff in developing strategies and tools to strengthen the STEPS program.
- Keeps Director of Programs informed of issues, concerns and successes of the STEPS for Success program.
- Actively participates in regular STEPS for Success program review and decision-making meetings.
- Serves as a point of contact between STEPS for Success program staff and Director of Programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The position is responsible for managing and leading a small team of people directly involved in the department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
A BA/BS degree in Social Services, Public Administration, Business Management, or related study and a minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field, including but not limited to project/program management and/or working with the public in a social services capacity. Experience in a non-profit organization an added plus. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Bi-lingual is an added plus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply mathematical concepts.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Design software; Internet software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) preferred
First Aid Training preferred
AED (Automated External Defibrillator) preferred
Training is provided on the job as a requirement
