About This Position
A Transit Bus Maintenance Supervisor oversees the repair, servicing, cleaning, fueling and maintenance of Palm Tran bus fleet to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance with regulations. Key responsibilities include supervising technicians, scheduling work, conducting quality control inspections, managing inventory, coaching staff, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring the fleet meets operational needs and safety standards like those set by the FTA, DOT and OEM. The role requires strong leadership, technical knowledge of heavy-duty vehicles, and excellent communication and organizational skills. Incumbents are expected to exercise considerable latitude and independent judgment in the day-to-day conduct of work, often over multiple shifts or work sites. Work is performed under general supervision of the maintenance superintendent who reviews work for conformance with established policies and procedures and desired results.
High school diploma or equivalent certification (GED). Five (5) year’s experience as a mechanic in the maintenance and repair of heavy-duty vehicles and equipment and one (1) year supervisory experience supervising five (5) or more employees preferably in the heavy-duty fleet maintenance and repair field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience sufficient to carry out the duties of the position. Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Experience in Mass Transit maintenance; Knowledge of Microsoft Excel & Word; Knowledge of Maintenance-related software.
Must possess and maintain a valid CDL Class B with Passenger endorsement or CDL Learner’s permit (must include a copy of driver’s license or permit and related certifications with application).
