About This Position
Marketing and Communications Coordinator
Status: Full-time, exempt
Reports to: Director of Marketing and Communications
Supervises: Graduate Fellows
Longy seeks a Marketing and Communications Coordinator to orchestrate the storytelling hub of a trailblazing conservatory that centers music as social change.
Our marketing goals and projects reflect Longy’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. We partner with YW Boston to create ongoing change throughout our organization. One school-wide goal ensures at least 25% of all music studied and performed here is written by composers of color, women, and artists from other historically underrecognized communities in musical traditions. Dovetailing with such initiatives, marketing amplifies stories from our school that disrupt exclusive music traditions and that champion our entire community.
Working with the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Coordinator will be at the table for launching all projects, guiding the production process to create assets such as videos, press releases, social media, ads, emails, print publications, and web pages. They lead the initial assessment to make recommendations for these marketing materials.
Through forethought and critical thinking, they document project details to create realistic work plans, and adapt to ensure the final product is excellent. They provide day-to-day oversight to see projects through to fulfillment, troubleshooting as needed. As the project and budget manager for the department, they are the point person for contractors, vendors, and advertising venues.
A strong candidate will be an excellent communicator with a keen editorial eye and strong marketing instincts, always curious to discover new stories and new opportunities. They must be organized, detail-oriented, resourceful, and strategic in prioritization. Their efforts support Longy’s marketing goals by positively influencing school enrollment, concert attendance, alumni engagement, and fundraising—by connecting the right message to the right audience at the right time.
